Dude, she has a net worth of $20 million, and she will be able to add to that pile forever. She doesn't need anyone else's money. She makes an estimated $5 million a year in endorsements. Her NFL husband doesn't make anywhere near that. Say something real.
Biles seems to have tweaked something in her lower leg during warmup for floor. Will have to see how this plays out. She completed floor with good score and is warming up for vault but something seems not quite right.
Simone Biles is one of the greatest athletes ever, and she could arguably be the best athlete ever. I'll watch. I appreciate greatness.
Name all the gymnastics athletes that you know besides Simone? Probably Zero - am I right? No one cares about it and she shines in a sport that has very few participants. She is a big fish in a very tiny pond.
Interesting. Thats a pretty common legal TUE. Lots of runners have a TUE for ritalin too. ADHD is pretty common.
Your argument that concentration is part of the sport and therefore if you have ADHD that affects your performance you shouldn't be able to treat it seems too extreme to me.
Do you think people shouldn't be allowed to wear glasses or contacts in sports that require eyesight? If she really has ADHD, then its unclear how ritalin is any different than someone with poor eyesight wearing glasses.

It's doesn't matter how many people do it. What matters to NBC is that gymnastics draws a lot of viewers, especially women. Just deal with or don't watch.
During a 2021 survey in the United States, artistic gymnastics was the most followed Summer Olympic sport for fans, with 35 percent of global respondents interested in the sport living in the United States.
Couldn't agree more. I hate the over hyping of super niche sports every four years.
99% of Americans would not be able to name a gymnast other than Biles. Be honest - you can't name any. I sure as heck can't name any.
So? A similar percent could not name a current NFL player. My wife would not be able to, and I watch games while she is around. I am the only person in my expansive extended family who gives a rat's a$$ about the NFL. You could say the same thing for table tennis or biathlon or cross country skiing or the steeplechase or the vast majority of Olympic sports. Most people are just casual sports fans if they are fans at all, and most people who get geeked about the Olympics are just into it for the little bit of time the olympics are going on, and then the couldn't care less about those sports until 4 years later.
Simone Biles is the best gymnast in the history of the world. I'll watch greatness. I'd watch greatness in any sport if that person was a dominant as Simone Biles is. Curling, luge, ski jumping, whatever.
In the United States, there are 4 major sports...Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, and Hockey barely is. Track and field isn't. Cross Country certainly isn't. ALL other sports (at least in the US) are arguably "niche" sports. Worldwide, you can add soccer, cricket, and maybe formula one. Only in a few African countries would track be considered a major sport.

I take your point, but glasses and contacts are not banned by WADA. Meanwhile, stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall are proven performance enhancers. Again, there is no objective way to diagnose ADHD. It's too easy to fake. Hence the reason why 100+ MLB players were given TUEs at one point for ADHD stimulants.
As I mentioned in the other post, winning is not just about genetic strengths, but also who has the least genetic weaknesses. Taking drugs to "level the playing field" because you have a genetic weakness is not an excuse. USADA does not grant TUEs to a distance runner with low testosterone so he can raise his T to natural levels. Why not? Because its too easy to abuse. Same with stimulants. Would you trust Russia with TUEs for ADHD?
At a minimum, disclose all TUEs and the let the public make up their minds about whether the athlete is cheating.

I think thats nearly 100 just off the top of my head. Pardon any naming errors. Oh and Nick Symmons introduced me to this woman named Livvy Dunne, who I never heard of before, but apparently she is a big deal to some people.
