It's a very good life. You have to master the emotion of sadhappy. You feel depressed but everything is so stunningly beautiful that you are insanely happy to be alive. It makes you very introspective. Distance running helped a lot as well as listening to and playing music.
If you want unhealthy, live in Las Vegas for awhile. I've been there 15 years and I would do anything for a 38 degree rainy day in Seattle.
Dude is standing by an engineer-tampered, probably polluted river, talking about trying to get away from all other people, even their smells. That's not happy behavior
Probably was in Aberdeen or Tacoma at that point, not Seattle.
cloudy and grey and a river. 90% of the people in the PNW live in a cloudy grey rainy seaport on a river.
It cost this guy his mind, as it does many residents. Not a good life.

I've lived in Seattle. Currently in Los Angeles. I want to move to Vegas. Should I really reconsider?

Yeah, and Tacoma has cleaned up. Don't know about Aberdeen, I only passed through that town on my way to Ocean Shores.
I was in Seattle as a kid in the summer of 86. If I had known better I would have been trying to go to the all ages shows and see grunge in its embryonic stages.
'86 was still pretty early. For grunge to really take hold, give it a few more years.
Alternative would have been the thing to lookf for at that time. I know the stuff I was listening to them was coming out of places like Minnesota and Athens Georgia. And I bet you can tell who I am refering to.
Hopefully referring to The Replacements, Husker Du, Pylon, REM, B-52s.....(The more I learn about Prince the less keen I am on him).

A lot of people have moved from LA to Vegas since covid, which doubled housing prices, so it doesn't have the cheapness factor anymore.
Vegas as a city gets a B from me since an A requires trees, mountains, and water. Vegas has some mountains but they're really just big rocks. It's kind of a traffic zoo. Forget about running in the trees or on a soft dirt path. I should probably give it a C.

You got it. Specifically, REM and The Repllacements, with a little Husker Du thrown in for good measure.
Like you, I never really felt that Prince deserved the accolades some would bestow upon him.
Seattle/Tacoma is a mecca for distance running but overall Seattle is dying.
Bellevue/Redmond are expensive but extremely good. Lots of nearby trails, Mt. Rainier not too far away, and their police department actually arrests people for open air drug use. There is also a light rail line that stretches from Bellevue/Redmond into Seattle, making it easy to access the city.
Seattle has its problems, but I honestly think the city is still too good to truly die. Temperate climate (though cloudy most of the year), arguably the best Summer weather in America, and no state income tax.

The light rail doesn't go from Redmond to Seattle.......yet. No light rail across Lake Washington but it will eventually but isn't quite there. Can catch the 545 (bus) out of the downtown Redmond covered park and ride into Seattle which makes minimal stops.
