I thought this race was fine and holding off MacLean was actually somewhat impressive...Allie Wilson who is on the team ran about the same in Ireland the other day with McKenna Keegan (SF at USAs) beating her handily. Let's see how the rest of the season goes.

You’re impressed she held off Maclean?? Only barely btw. Maclean didn’t even make it to the Trials final! With Hurta touting her horn that she should have made the “Team” no one is impressed that she nudged out Maclean.

You might be thinking of someone else. Maclean didn’t run the 800 at trials. But agree that it’s not so crazy that Sage nudged her out. Heathers concentration is in the 1500.
Not sure what her plan moving forward is but a win / fast time at 5th ave would be my main goal if I was her at this point and a fall/ winter of reassessing shifting toward a different event.

Whoa whoa whoa take it easy.
Firstly, for her PR level it's not overly impressive but it happens. She's only human.
Secondly, I saw some commentary around the "straight off the plane vs a week already in Europe" etc - I'll tell you this right now, sometimes it's actually easier getting right off a plane and from experience when you are adjusting to a time zone it's days 4-7 where you actually feel your worst.
Thirdly, that's a sh-tty low blow the the Olympic team. How many times have you been in an Olympic trials final and had your legs taken out from under you. The worst part about her fall is that she was actively trying to stay out of trouble and doing exactly the right thing before "bambi-on-rollerskates" Athing Mu ended her last chance at going to an Olympics. And btw, the way that race played out - that would have played into her strength and she would have been there with 80m to go. From that point nothing is off the table so her "preconceived circumstances" (I think you mean "notions" right) were not some grand delusion. The point being, it must be really hard to get yourself up racing again in Europe no matter what the level of race after that career body-blow. Why is she there? Because she's a paid athlete and it's her job to race and maybe it's some type of coping mechanism - even if it's helping or not.

This is how I know you're just out here to be a jerk for no reason. MacLean ran 3:58.31 at the US final of the 1500m to finish 7th and was in position to qualify with 150 or 200 to go before fading a bit. She also had run 1:58.77 for 800m this year.
People are really mad and reveling in this OK (and not even particularly bad) race because Hurta-Klecker gave us an honest moment. Her Trials 800m hopes were ruined by Athing Mu falling down in front of her in an incident that she was completely uninvolved in. That'd suck for anyone, and she was asked about it 15 minutes after.

You're a cheaply made non-OEM vacuum cleaner filter bag that malfunctions and causes catastrophic failure of the suction unit, kind of guy.

Saying anyone has no hopes less than 200m into an 800 is absurd and shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the sport. Not sure what Kate has to do with it as her final was not affected the same way.
Im always amazed how many fans want canned PC answers, cliches and athletes to hide their emotions after races. Just don’t watch the post-race stuff if it’s going to trigger you.

How much longer is this contract? Ritz has a great new crop of young runners coming in. Hopefully they won’t be conceited like some of the others.
Doubt that either she or Norris will be there too much longer. Ritz needs some better younger talent to beef up that team. Olivia is one but he needs more.
The 800m runners with short careers are the men that rely on 45/46 400m speed and lose it.
Slightly off topic, but I've always thought it was the exact opposite, the speed-based 800 guys age better. Everyone loses a little top speed in their late 20s. If you're a strength-based 800 guy with 47 high 400 speed, losing any speed means that you're no longer world-class. But if you have 45 low 800 speed, you can lost a little top speed and still remain competitive if you build strength.
Look at US 800 runners for example, Johnny Gray and Khadevis Robinson were both speed-based runners who made Olympic teams at 35.
I do not understand all of the animosity toward Hurta-Klecker. The only reason female runners seem to get bashed here is if they commit the ultimate no-no: beat Tuohy or her records. Valby, Andrews, Wiley, Hutchins, Leachman, Cook, Lemngole, O'Sullivan, Ramsden, etc. These all make sense as they all fit the pattern. But as far as I know, Tuohy and Hurta-Klecker only raced one time ever, way back when they were in high school, and Tuohy won. It just doesn't make any sense.
Maybe we have some obsessed St. Pierre fans who are just upset she shoved their girl for cutting into her space. The force of the shove was excessive, but the shove itself was definitely warranted.

You will be sad. ON will certainly keep her on board til 2028. She made 2 diamond league finals, makes final of USA 800, reliably runs 1:58-2:01, shows up on time, represents ON well.
ON is Swiss, her willingness to train and race in Europe is of good value to the company.
