In that race the one who sits back and risks nothing (Hailu) at the end came fourth, the one more bold runner (Meshesha) came last.

Seems like the EAF has changed its mind, Hailu is listed instead of Meshesha in the final entries (though that still might mean that she is only the reserve athlete)
LRC forum software kind of massacred my link, another try:
Hopefully she gets to run. Meshesha is extremely inconsistent, I don’t know what they were thinking choosing her over Hailu.

Yes I just saw this. She is now the alternate in both (at least). The key thing is Tsegay may scratch an event I’d think. Now Hailu will get to run if so. My thought is running the 1500 and 10000 makes no sense. Scrap the 1500 imo if you want to maximize medals.
Update: Birke Haylom paced 12th in her heat getting beaten by women with almost 10s slower PBs and now has to rely on repechage. LOL
Birke Haylom is extremely talented but she’s clearly not ready for the major championships like the Olympic Games which require experience. She just placed 12th in her heat and has a high chance of not getting through the repecharge round as well. Meanwhile the world indoor champion Hailu was left out of the team, she would’ve easily made it through. I use to question these Kenyans and Ethiopians taking up citizenship in Europe or the Middle East but the more I follow distance the more I realize the BS and the corruption that these athletes have to go through. The Ethiopians have so many talents yet they underperform at championship after championship and they have no one to blame but themselves for it. The Kenyans are going to beat them in the medals at this Olympics yet again.
