Don't forget in Paris there is a new track, faster than all the other tracks of the past, and athletes can use new shoes. For what we saw in training, this new shoes allow the athletes (depending on their biomechanical action) to have advantages, per lap, between 5/10 and one sec.
This means that 1'41"5 is equivalent to about 1'43" in 2020, and that the current 3'30" in 1500m are the 3'33" of 2020.
In Letsrun the most part of posters continue to think the secret is doping, because are obsessed about this argument ; but really the biggest advantage in the results of 800m, 1500m, 400m HS and 5000m, is due to the new shoes. Not only : top athletes now know possible running faster, maybe attempted new WR in several events, and this means the organizers give a budget for the pacers (that after Bekele and El Guerrouj and Shaheen were no more used because no chances to better WR), races are faster not only for the winners, but for all the runners.
Some data : at 8th July, we have already this situation in different events :

The last edition of new spikes started to be used in 2022, and currently are better than two years ago.
I think everybody needs to look at times in different way : my table of comparison is, at the moment, looking at performances in 2020 and in 2025, the following :
800m M : 1'42"0 is 1'43" / 1'43"5 5 years ago
1500m M : 3'30" is 3'32" / 3'33"
5000m M : 12'45" is 12'50" / 12'53"
800m W : 1'57" is 1'58"5 / 1'59"
1500m W : 3'55" is 3'58" / 3'59"
5000m W : 14'10" is 14'18" / 14'22"
I don't want to speak about 10000m, since there are max 2 competitions in one year, and one of them is tactical. However, when 10000m was event classic in some meeting (Hengelo, Bruxelles and Eugene), I had 9 athletes running between 26'30" and 27', and among them only two were really athletes with high talent, so I think there was no improvement because the race (such as steeple) step by step disappeared from the best meetings and was no more stimulated (replaced by the HM).
