What was Wanyoni's split? 49 low? It seems like he went out very fast. I think he can run 50.0 followed by a 51.0.

I'm not that worried, didn't Hoppel just run a 1:42 after 2 prelims? These guys were all completely fresh. Definitely a crazy 800m no doubt, but you can't write off Hoppel based on this.

Of course pacing lights don’t make a difference. If they had run a few tenths of a second faster, or slower, during the first lap, it wouldn’t have made a distance. WRs have been run with a positive split, so would whoever programs light try to guess the perfect splits for a record? Runners don’t even use them and they’re just for the fans.

Woke up to check the results. Eyes were dry, kind of hurt to read the screen. I was surprised when I saw the Wanyoni didn't even win but I almost just rolled over went back to sleep after I saw the times because man I wanted to pass out.

Wanyonyi looks tired, Tual is totally winded, but Sedjati doesn't even look like he's breathing hard after the race.

His first 400m was too fast. Died hard at 600m and came back to life at 750m.

.25/.50 second slower first lap and he runs 1:41 low and may have 1st on his own.

Sedjati has the best finish but can he run his best as a front runner?

Hoppel would have gotten a 1:41 in this race.

Olympic Gold between Sedjati and Wayoni. Wanyoni's only chance to take gold is to burn the legs from Sedjati without doing the same to himself.
