Navy Returners: PL XC & Indoor 5k Champ (Smith), Outdoor 10k Champ (Mumford), Outdoor 5k Champ (Kirkland), 1200 & 1600 DMR Champ legs (Newell & Nester), Bronze in Steeple (Countiss), 29:40 guy who didn't even make the conference team and 15th at PL XC (Nguyen), a really good recruiting class with Eike and Partlow, and Navy always has sophomores that beat the bust allegations. 25 points at the conference meet would be a disappointment. Does the team have a shot at NCAAs!?
Everyone knows the army and navy are lax on doping. Why would the United States armed forces not want the strongest and most athletic soldiers. This obviously affects their depth and why they always have someone coming up. I predict that Navy will once again use their daily “multivitamins” to once again sway the conference in their favor, while the other schools that have to abide by normal rules and tests would never think of using such supplements to cheat.

Updates after Lafayette hosted their preview meet. Shame on Army and BU not attending, the course has changed significantly. Looks like they have conceded the fact that they can't beat Navy.
1- Navy - unsure why their star freshmen didn't run well in their opener but they are still a large favorite. Partlow in the JV race? Gandini not a true freshman but will be a force
2- Army - No significant updates other than the fact they aren't even making an effort to gain an advantage on Navy by seeing the course.
3- BU - Nobody raced yet but it might take time adjusting to a new coach who only worked with women. They should have gone to see the course.
4- American dominated a weak Bucknell team and a weak Lafayette team on the conference course. Kluth looks poised to at least match his 12th place finish from last year.
5- Lehigh but only if Smigo can get back into shape. He ran HORRIBLE in their opener but Baker had a great race to bail them out.
6- Bucknell was HUMILIATED by Lafayette. The only good sign for Bucknell is every time they run fast early in the season they choke at conferences. Maybe after coaching for 50 years Donner can time the peak right.
7- Colgate - They were smart to tempo the course at Lafayette because it's early. They return their entire top 7 from last year and all seemed to run well outdoors.
8- Lafayette - Mediocre race on their home course but they've been ripping hard workouts on their course for 3 weeks now. That and racing so hard (this and duel meet) early in the season = rolled by IC4A.
9- Holy Cross is actually a pretty talented team but are just young. They are capable of beating Colgate and Lafayette on the right day. Their freshman Ryan is legit.
10- Loyola - their average wasn't that much slower than Lafayette and Bucknell but just not enough depth
Spiked Shoe Invite had Navy, Bucknell, Lehigh, and Loyola show up.
Why Loyola went to this meet who the heck knows. Murphy Smith looks to be fully equipped to repeat but Navy struggled with no Kirkland and Mumford. Bucknell and Lehigh looked subpar

Lehigh and Bucknell with really bad results. American is a clear 4th place in PL, can Colgate catch Lehigh and Bucknell? Smigo is rolled. The Lehigh-Laf dual meet is going to be a boring pillowfight.
Some of Navy's runners were slower than expected (Nester, Countess, Partlow) but will dominate the PL when they race all their top runners together (Mumford, Kirkland, Gandini, Sloat, Eike).
Why did Loyola waste money going to Penn State to get STEAMROLLED when they could have gotten steamrolled for free at Navy last weekend?
Army's times at Iona were nearly 30 seconds per runner slower than last year. Don't be surprised if American beats Army.
Navy- Benjamin Countiss (SR-4) looks to be in rough shape (26:41) seems to be spending too much time on his tech-deck career. Apparently he has a large deck
Boston- Heard Freddy Collins might be out for two months (Chin reconstruction surgery)
Army- Where does the Captain keep his Army? (keep reading)
American- Kaden Kluth thinks he looks so tough with whatever face he has tattooed on his leg. Jack Chandler took 45 seconds off his 6k PR, could he crack into their Conference squad
Bucknell- How the hell did Buckle lose to a crappy American squad with no upperclassmen? They look like a bunch of inbred gingers
Lehigh- Dylan Cummingham WILL SHOCK THE PATRIOT LEAGUE and be first team at conferences. MARK MY WORDS.
Loyola- They just look so good out there, Camden Spring looks so good alone he might carry them to a top 7 finish.
Lafayette- Gregory Stevenson we know your accent is fake. The greyhounds will run well on their own course at the conference meet, but their coach Michelle is flying back to Alaska the week of the meet to reignite an old flame.
Colgate- I heard they are sneaking EPO into their toothpaste but they still run poorly. Dakin Ebmeyer what kind of name is that?

Is this the year that the Lehigh dual meet win streak against Lafayette gets snapped? This is the weakest Lehigh team in a LONG time.
All they have is Harvey and Lynch. Harvey does NOT look like a Patriot League 5k champion (he won the 5k 2023) and Lynch is regretting not staying at Colgate. They have not been improving.
Smigo is not ready, Zahn who ran 14:42 last year as a freshman had a bad season opener. All the pressure is on Baker as their #3 because they don't have a good #4 and #5.
Etters had 2 really bad recruiting classes (now the seniors and the juniors at Lehigh) and it's really coming back to haunt them with a lack of depth this year.
I give a ton of credit to the previous Lafayette distance coach. I thought their 2 great years at Patriot Leagues was a fluke but he even set them up with a very formidable cast of young runners to continue.
The new guy Dentino just has really struggled developing them and keeping them consistent. They should be contending for 4th place with American but got 9th last year. They have the talent but not the coaching.
Worrell ran 1:52, 4:08 and 9:19 in high school but hasn't improved on them yet. Sanford burned out in XC last year, Arangala missed a lot of time indoors last year, Chukoskie missed most of last year. Titan Casey hasn't run a PR in his best even in college and has struggled with XC. It's on the coach.
Satisfactory performance for navy at griak. But the question from before still remains: why the heck did American go all the way to Minnesota just to get blown out and have their top runner flounder? Seems fishy to me

Freshman have to go to Plebe Summer, which is six weeks of basically no running at all. That’s why
Enough Navy talk. Who cares about those Trump loving, military-industrial-complex-tit- suckers?? THE GATE IS BACK! Those white teeth sexy men just dominated the Yellowjacket XC Invitational. 32 points?!?! Are you kidding me!?!? Hamilton, Rochester, Hobart, Buffalo (and Buffalo State), Penn State (not the one you're thinking of), and so many powerhouses go home with cavities and stinky breath. These men are ready for war against the service academies and the Canadian-Swiz Boston University

Who said Army and Navy likes Trump? Quite the opposite actually
That’s 25 years straight of Lehigh victories in the dual meet. That sure is a LONG time.
Harvey picks up the individual win just ahead of Baker and Lynch. After a solid race at Penn State, there’s NOT a doubt he’s back in Patriot League Champion form (he won the 5k in 2023).
Lynch must be thankful he’s not at Colgate, as it seems like Lehigh is finally showing its depth. Smigo is finally looking ready, and Zahn who ran 14:42 as a freshman had a great race. They were both surrounded by brown and white with a 40 second spread #1-7. Thankfully the depth of #4-7 took some pressure off Baker, but that did not matter as he continued his recent success with another statement race.
If there was any doubt of Etters’ previous recruiting classes (now the seniors and the juniors at Lehigh), they had a strong showing today, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds.
With the talent of Lafayette’s roster, I agree questions have to be asked of Dentino. Especially after such a strong season opener, the severity of the loss for the Leopards today was quite surprising.
Lafayette is so pathetic they can't even time a dual meet correctly. The live results site didn't show Lehigh 's top female finisher, Hayes, or Lehigh's top male finisher Harvey.
Even without them, Lehigh dominated.
Now tfrrs.org only shows men's results, not women's.
More evidence of how much of a JOKE Lafayette is. Curcio has succeeded in killing the distance program.

Not entirely true. We ran every morning. And to be honest, most everywhere. There are ways to keep your fitness going throughout Plebe Summer. Especially when sports practices started. We would all run together as a plebe team during sports practice time. I was able to prioritize my fitness throughout the summer and PR in the 1500m we had during the Plebe track smoker.
It comes down to how you deal with the stresses of plebe summer and what you make of it.
