No. Because age will become a factor and soon another champion will develop. Champions at the highest level all have careers that’s shorter than what the fans would like. When the next champion arrives to challenge him it will gain more interest in a jump off. But for now his dominance is inspiring.

As a spectator the pole vault is interesting for about 5 minutes, with or without Mondo. It's a circus act. The best thing about the pole vault is at least the very best focus on a specialty, rather than being mediocre at everything they do - like the decathletes, heptathletes and triathletes.

Mondo is great to watch. People who say that he is not trying his best when he breaks the world record in small increments don't understand everything that goes into a successful 20'+ jump. His speed, strength, and incredible athleticism create phenomenal performances. Bubka used to do the same thing with the world records because that's how he got paid. He's the absolute best ever. Just enjoy what he's doing and if you can't, watch another event and stop the negativity towards a historical athlete.

It can get boring, but it was pretty electric when he closed out the Eugene WCs with a walk-off world record and then ran excitedly onto the track and did a standing back flip. That was great TV!

Would be more interesting if they paid $50k for every centimetre you beat the WR by rather than $50k every time the WR gets broken.
