Katie seems like a good person and a good role model.
She's been a talent since high school, and she's been honest about her struggles and spoke out against the use of those bizarre BMI machines college.
there's absolutely nothing in her progression to indicate anything untoward. But I think those allegations made by posters are less about being trolls and more an indictment of where the sport itself is, where everyone is under suspicion, fair or not.
I hope she gets better. This is scary and she's quite young to have it happening to her.
When 13 of the first 24 posts have to be removed because they are HORRIFYINGLY callous and evil, that really speaks to the quality of people who visit this place.
The trolls on this thread are a new low for LRC. Absolutely disgusting and toxic!
And yet, nobody will do anything to change that.
Time for registered posting only. Keep the 1998 web design, but unfortunately far too many people are mentally off the rails. Occasionally the brojos do close threads for anonymous posting, but in this day and age allowing it pretty much unrestricted is irresponsible. It was "fun", not so much anymore. Keep up the fight Katie.
And the we have people down voting affirmative words for Katie from...there worse than trolls. Brojo's get rid of the down vote as well, I promise the website won't loose its allure.
What has happened to this place? I don't remember trolls attacking Gabe Grunewald like this.
You have a short memory. There were plenty.
No, there were not. Point them out to me.
Grunewald, Wiley, and others have gone down this road. For some, like Grunewald, it ends tragically. For others, like Wiley, it ends joyously. Nobody knows how this will end for Rainsberger but it will be a challenging road. She is way too young to have to go through something like this. And think of her parents, too. The possibility of losing a child has to be the most frightening scenario possible for a parent. All we can do is hope for the best possible outcome for all and a long, happy life for her.
As we all know, Gabe Grunewald has been battling adenoid cystic carcinoma for the last several years. Yesterday, she was in the ICU, and things were not looking good. Her husband, Justin, who is a doctor, looked at her charts...
The day none of us wanted to see has come, Gabe Grunewald has died. She was a true inspiration to everyone who knew her story. I believe life is not measured in how many years we have on the planet, but on the impact we have....
I like the sound of "usually slow-growing." Good luck, Katie. Rooting for you!
I think that's also a positive sign for what the situation is. Slow growing usually means slower metastases and as a result easier to hopefully treat in one spot (if malignant). Benign is optimal case though.
