OK guys calm down this is sport and perfromance matters. If she makes the team in the 10k and does not get lapped in the Olympic final or makes the team in the 5k and can make it into the Olympic final then she has a chance at competing at the top level.
Neither are going to make an Olympic team (and if she does, cross training isn't going to get her in the top 10), so I guess second best is to be the most popular kid. Congrats to her on winning that.
