Why do some people (like announcers on TV today) have to add “Lady” before a team name? Like “Lady Longhorns”? That’s not even the name. Do they say “Gentlemen Longhorns”? What is the point? And why “Lady”? C’mon. These are great athletes. Simple as that.

I think they are trying, and they do want to show respect , but they seem completely unaware of how the language they use subtly takes the focus off athletics and onto their gender when it is completely unnecessary.

Usual suspects thru in women's steeple. Baloga, NAU frosh, 3rd in pr of 9:49. Fellow HS record chaser Napoleon did not advance. I believe u20 record still CUs Maddie Boreman at 9:45.
Boreman's US U20 record is 9:46.48 from 2017; fellow U20 steeplers Courtney Wayment, Sage Hurta & Gabrielle Jennings didn't break 10:00 that year! If Baloga doesn't get the record on Sat, she should have another great opportunity at Lima 24 (Napoleon as well if she's up for it.). Baloga is still 18, so the US U20 mark could drop into the 9:30s a year from now.
That's got to be a DQ for Clemson's Gladys Chepngetich in the 800. NOw, I wouldn't automaticall put UNC's Makayla Paige in the final. See what the times end up being. She clearly wasn't going to be 2nd in this heat (2:01.79) so if the final time qualifier is faster than that, do not put her in the final.

I can't believe it took a 2:00.87 to make finals. That's just not even fair. A 2:04 or 2:05 used to be safe for finals. The level of depth in the 400-800 and 4x400s is crazy.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's team is called the "Stags" and the women's team is called the "Athenas." My son said the men's team should be called the "Athenos"! Food for thought.
