Girma blew it early, whether from inexperience or overconfidence, not helped by a lack of quick-shifting gears. He would have been battling Habz for the W if he didn’t run such a poor tactical race.

Those are o.k. results for the Brits, particularly for Mills’s season opener.

Habz ran like the class of the field. Looks in good shape to make the final again this year.

No one will break 3:30 unless Jakob is in the race. He’s the only guy who has the balls to go out in 1:51 with the pacers.

If the race was at a level 3;29 or lower, Girma would had another word.

Yeah he was working hard to move up the whole race with mixed results. I was a bit surprised he didn’t just commit to a huge move to get way up there. He got stuck moving up only a few spots at a time.
Giles ran about the same as last week though I liked that he did put himself up there. I didn’t mind it, he just didn’t have the same kick as last week running a more aggressive race. Mills just quite passive for me. He didn’t seem to be running with much thought of winning. Out super slow, very patient and then didn’t try to hit top gear until really late. Habz made a strong move, but Mills should be at least trying to chase him down I think.

If he skips Monaco, it will be the ultimate test. Based on what we saw from Tim in Doha, I think we may see a vintage 3:29.

Yeah, looks like the last time someone broke 3:30 without Jakob in the race was 30 June 2018 where Tim Cheruiyot won. Not that Jakob was pushing the pace back in Tim's dominant era
