As an athlete, how much do you spend on food in 1 year? Trying to eat healthy, training hard and needing a lot of calories.
In 2023 I spent close to $11k on food, just under 30 dollars per day.
So, let's see.
$11,000 per year is $916.67 a month on FOOD, not GROCERIES, just FOOD.
$11,000 per year is $211.54 a week on FOOD, not GROCERIES, just FOOD.
Doing a little checking what The Lovely Mrs. Flagpole and I spent on GROCERIES and eating out in the last month...
We (two of us) spent $708.23 on GROCERIES in March 2024. This is food AND paper products, wasp killer, anything else we bought at a grocery store in March 2024.
We also ate out 6 times in the month though including one expensive meal. The total for those 6 times out was $349. So, all food and any other groceries (Kleenex, toothpaste, etc.) and restaurants was $1057.23 for 2 people, so $528.61 per person for the month or $6343.38 per person for the year.
Now for caveats:
1) I live in Ohio where the cost of things isn't too bad.
2) Neither of us are training for anything these days, so we most assuredly do not eat as much as you do.
3) Only you know really if you are spending to much on food. If you think you are or you would just like to not spend as much, then spend more time planning what you buy, use coupons, make more food at home, decide if the expensive stuff you buy is really better, etc.
4) Do I have an opinion on whether you are spendingn too much? Nope. You do you, brother.
