McSweyn needs to just focus on the 5k at global championships. He's a 12:56 guy with 3:29 1500m speed. Better than a 3:29 guy with no kick or 800m speed.

Most people don't realize that Myers has been racing on the track since December 2nd when he ran a 3k. He raced an 800 (1:47) in January, His races in February were a 3:34, 3:52(mile), and a 3:33. In March he ran 7:46 for 3k then strangely ran an 800m 5 days later in 1:48.

He has a very bright future and will run well but in an Olympic year it was always going to be hard to make the team while he is just trying to finish off 12th grade. It would be great to see him run U20 Worlds but it does mean it will be a very very long (9months from first race to last race) for him.

Confirmed, no one named in the mens 1500m from AUS national champs.

Pete Bol (2nd - 800m) and Jess Hull (1st - 1500m) both named, as are Claudia Hollingsworth (1st - 800m) and Abbey Caldwell (2nd - 800m). No other distance runners were named. Will be interesting to see who takes the remaining spots.

How is Spencer not confirmed. He won and has the standard. Caldwell and Bol didn’t win. Corrupt Aussies

This feels rough for Adam, he beat a really strong field and has the time. I understand it's consistent with the policy, but how is Aust. going to attract the likes of OAC USA, NCAA runners down for Nationals if it's not even a golden ticket. From the way they were talking on Coffee Club Pod, Ollie and Morgan considered it to be 'olympic trials'.

I think they are worried Adam Spencer would get disqualified in the first round by throwing an elbow or something like that.

While it's not a golden ticket - participation in the AUS domestic season and nationals is a big part of the criteria. Caldwell has multiple qualifiers and hit the time again at Nationals, hence her selection. I'm not sure I agree with pre-selecting Bol, as he was beaten and hasn't run the time this year, but he's an AA favourite.

I would assume most of these guys will do a mini base for April early may, and then build to run fast in mid July through the summer. And a couple of them don’t really periodize a ton…
