It’s not right to skip the National Anthem but you’re twisting things to fit your narrative. Why is that not a surprise?
The coach isn’t apologizing for Reese’s behavior. She’s apologizing that the team missed the National Anthem. Also, if you care to read or listen to any accounts that aren’t “customized” to fit your narrative, you’ll note that the coach stated it was an oversight and not an intentional snub. That doesn’t fit the story that you want to advance, though, right?
People who saw her kick another player who was heartbroken because she just lost a championship naturally felt bad for Clark and thought Reese was a jerk. I have no problem with that and can't see how people wouldn't feel that.
Some people have selective memory and forgot that Clark had previously done the same gesture when Iowa upset South Carolina. So its bad when Reese does it, but not Clark and make Reese a villain.
How can you say it's selective memory when it's something you never saw.
If Clark did that same move to a South Carolina player after they lost a championship (or big game) while in the congratulatory line, then Clark is also guilty of a truly punk move.
In defense of Reese, apparently the media was okay with her punk move because they kept showing the picture of her being a punk over and over again. They wouldn't let you forget it. It made it worse.
My bad, the Louisville/Iowa game, not South Carolina game, is when Clark was disrespectful. But when Reese did it after blowing out Iowa in the Championship game its an issue. I wonder why (rhetorical question).
You truly have selective memory when it comes to certain people's actions and then condemn the same actions when someone not of your race does it.

And both players have used the same gesture at this year's March Madness: Clark waved a hand in front of her face two games earlier when Iowa beat Louisville to enter the Final Four. But she didn't get criticism for it. In fact, she earned praise, including from Cena himself.
At the women's NCAA final, Angel Reese of LSU waved her hand in front of her face while glaring at Iowa's Caitlin Clark. Here's what the gesture means and why it sent social media into a tizzy.

Don't waste your time, they don't want to hear the truth, they are a bunch of mindless, racist sheep and they actually believe there is no racism in America, that we are just making it up. They have no idea what the average black person goes through DAILY in America, especially those in middle class and upper middle class areas.
I just saw the whole video clip of Reese pointing to her finger and getting close right in Clark's face after the championship and actually it was more aggressive and disrespectful than I had remembered. The still picture of it doesn't capture how terribly inappropriate it was.
Let's not get to a point to the point where we normalize or accept this type of behavior. Let's not try to excuse it.
I stand by previous comments, I have never seen it done like that in that context
Let's hold all players accountable and expect and maybe demand better behavior
thats quite a soap box you got there. guess you better start boycotting Ted Lasso then.

Kobbs doesn't have a narrative. The only narrative that he has, and he wears it on his sleeve daily, is that he has no shame being an overt racist.
To speak to the OP's point, it may sound as if Reese posing is doing to herself what she claims others are doing to her, but it may be that she is actually talking about other, more extreme comments or images concerning her that go well beyond what she is herself choosing to do. At any rate, she had a very good game, 17 pts and 20 boards, along with multiple blocks and good passing, but shot poorly after rolling her ankle, and notably she refused to accept that as an excuse when asked to do so by the media after the game. Great game, by the way, for Clark 41/12, really outstanding passing and taking the long shots she was given.
Maybe she is just upset that she's not making as much NIL money as Clark.
I imagine that, unlike men, they will each be taking a pay cut when they go pro. For them, there is far more visibility in the NCAA that people watch due to school allegiances than in the WNBA that nobody watches.

They definitely wont be taking a pay cut. Most of those endorsements carry over to the league. This notion that they suddenly lose them all is completely misguided. If anything, the rookie salary they get will be like an extra bonus on top of all the other things they will carry over.
"She'll take a pay cut by going pro instead of staying in college and receiving NIL deals.”The hottest topic in sports right now is NIL. NIL is reshaping dec...
She has a game that invites criticism. She has an awkward shot, and relies on pretty darn tough offensive and yet clumsy rebounding to score. She does show up and play defense when tasked to do so with a 6 7 Cardozo or Betts, which is admirable. So while her style of play can be inconsistent, she is not a thug or as the LA Times reporter suggested a dirty debutante.
The WNBA means showing up and playing to the level of a 6 4 Breanna Stewart, a much quicker and better shooter. She like Van Lith should return for another year but I doubt Reese will. A flamboyant player with flaws who can get better.

Thank you for returning the focus to my original comments, and yes... incredible effort and performance by both Reese and Clark. I'm not happy either lost (no dog in the fight really - I just appreciate a great game), and I definitely don't take a "that's what you get, you trashy thug" stance to Angel.
Posters' racist leanings are coming to light for sure. However.... I do think she might be hypocritical with her complaints about sexualization, as I've stated.
I wonder how she would've acted if LSU won that game yesterday.
Well.... in truth I wonder how YOU would've acted had LSU won and Angel had been gracious, as she was in defeat yesterday. Blanket judgments are usually more reflective of the judge, not the judged.
