Angel has been treated unfairly, no doubt. The double standard last year with her and Caitlin Clark's trash talking is well documented & generally acknowledged among anyone with a brain. It's hard not to feel sympathy for her.
In her teary press conference she reflected on this, saying she's been the "victim of death threats, endless racist comments, sexualization"... and on.
Which made me pause. I get the 1st two - completely despicable if true. But I have a legit question about her accusation of people "sexualizing" her - and I guess, sexualizing in general.
She has made millions off her fame and yes, her body. She has posed for SI swim. Her Insta is full of tiny bikinis and provocative - sexual - poses.
Is being sexualized unfairly? Or is she simply using sex appeal for profit, and then unfairly crying foul? Clearly unwanted sexualization happens to females everywhere. It's especially endemic with young female atheltes.
I just have a hard time with Angel on one hand stripping to nearly nothing for dollars, and on the other hand claiming she's unfairly sexualized.
I try to see all sides, understand other's POV, but this one challenges me. To quote a Fab subreddit... Am I the A-hole?
