Like 99% of all track and field media is targeted towards children. It's becoming increasingly harder to find well-written and thoughtful content in any form. I think it's incredibly misguided and shortsighted. Citius et al basically said, "Wow, if we target all these HS runners, we have ourselves a profitable market segment and we can spin it as `growing the sport.`"
Instead of creating high quality content and actually, you know, being journalists, they hedged their bets on children whose fancy changes at a moment's notice. Not a sustainable business model when any Joe Schmoe with an iPhone can interview an athlete and throw it up on a wordpress site.
I don't care about them being woke but I really loath them. Real journalists take a confrontation stance with their subjects and ask hard questions, do investigative research into things like doping and abuse. Citrus is acting like their friend. Look at political journalism and see that they don't shy away from hard questions

There just isn't any money in track and field. We are lucky to have rich people like phil knight to hold the sport above water and trust funds to give people like the brojos freedom to make their living by covering this sport.
If those guys really are majority supported by a trust fund, it would appear they are at least held to the standard of doing something productive in the world to get the money. And what's wrong with that? It is unreal to me how many die hard track and field people don't appreciate this place, even though they show up here day after day, or at least month after month.

They aren't trying to be "good journalists" by your definition. They are simply trying to grow the sport and it's working.
