I agree that it is not really up for debate. I know two people who competed for the DDR in the 1980s. They weren't really "doping" in the sense that they had any say in the matter. They were doped. In the end though, it was the same result.

The national teams had youth programs that fed the system. It was all very supportive and well-organized. The athletes had a lot of perks. But they didn't get to choose their coaches, workouts, meds, training camps, racing schedules, or supplemental therapies. If you didn't want to do what they told you to do, you just got phased out of the team. Back to work.

If you did what they told you to do, you were doped. Because one of the most common things they did was give everyone vitamin injections. This was also common in other parts of Europe. These vitamin injections could have been anything.

Of course, the more mature and intelligent athletes likely knew they were being doped, but was a different system than here in the Wild West where I assume everyone was just on their own...

You have no clue what you're talking about. The paperwork didn't magically appear in some sort of conspiracy theory. The East German's themselves were the ones who brought all the drug paperwork to light.

And there were in fact court cases about the East German athlete's forced drug use, and several million dollars were paid out as compensation to all the East German athletes who were forced to take drugs and suffered health problems because of it.

You're an idiot. Of course the drugs they were taking in the 1980's were stronger. That's because there was no out of competition drug testing so they could get away with taking the strongest drugs possible in large amounts.
