So, you agree, unless J Ingrebrigtsen has a 300m TT he cares to brag about, he has never finished a race in 25.19 or faster. Sore back or not sore back, it does not matter. You can be a J I fan and admit J I is not as fast as many others. If J I were 20-something years old, 2016, be honest, with 1500m final splitting 1200m in 3:12.0, what place would J Ingebrigtsen have finished?
3:12 for 1200 is probably 10k pace for Jakob (26:40). I think he would be able to close extremely fast off a split that slow. His last 400 in the world semi was 52 flat and he did that running wide and waving to the crowd. You don’t think he could close in 50-high in a race where the finishing time is 15 seconds slower?
Correct answer: If 20-something J Ingebrigtsen were racing in 1500m final, 2016 Olympics and he sat in the catbird seat, J Ingebrigtsen would not have earned a medal. J Ingebrigtsen would have finished 7th place or worse. Be honest.
I’m not asking if he should have, could have or would have.
I would like to know if he ever did
I don’t know if he did. But if he didn’t the interesting question is why not. And I think the answer then would be because he likes his races to be fast all the way…(And if one does that nobody closes in 25 low…)
Every top sprinter could jog 1300m, and then close in a sub 22 sec. Guess they would beat Kerr as well then, if only the last 200m’s count, don’t you..? So what’s your point?
Jakob could not close in 25.19 in a 7:45 race. Or an 8:00 race. It is probably not far off his 400 pace. His PR is 51, but obviously he never contests it and I would imagine he can run 48-49. Still, not closing in 25.19.
that is why he has no choice but to lead and make it fast against Kerr, Wightman, maybe even Nuguse. He likes to say he just likes an honest race and wants to go fast, but in reality it’s his only semi-reliable move. And unfortunately for him, those guys have more speed and Kerr has shown he has surprising endurance as well, a bit more than Nuguse and Wightman.

If he can close in 25:80 in a 7:23 race. He can close in 25:19 in a 7:45 pace,EASY.

Especially if he closed in 25:80 in a 7:23 race, the day after having run the second fastest mile in history.

A little strange that you give him a 48-49, and still don’t think he can close in 25.19….

Yeah there is a lot wrong with that post, but this part is especially bizarre. If 48-49 is too slow to close in 25.19, how did Josh Kerr do it? He’s never done anything to indicate he can run 47.
then he could maybe (but maybe) close a 200 m race in 25"19 (but only with pacemakers)
We know that Jakob can do a sub 25 all out 200m with good margin (most elite 1500m runners can of course). The question is then (as for everybody): How exhausted is the athlete (Jakob) when he has 200m left of f.ex a 3000m. -If he has run 2800m in a (3000m) 7.52 pace, and he is good for a 7.19 WR all out, my guesses is that he will be so untouched that he easily can do sub 25.19 for a 7.45 finish…

What was his close in his 7:40 indoor 3000m last year?
Has Geordie Beamish ever run out to lane 6 to grab some water hobby jogger-style before proceeding to annihilate some of the greatest distance runners of all time in his off event? There are levels to this game.

Don’t worry. nobody is taking away Jakob’s medals or records.
I simply want to know if he ever closed faster than 25.19 in any of his races (ever)
Narve Nordas has seen the problem sitting in the catbird seat for first 1200m of 1500m. Maybe he will race boldly in 1500m final. N Nordas will not give Beamish or Beamish-types an opportunity to defeat him again.
