He was doing really well at UGA, part of me kind of wishes he stayed at least one more year there, but honestly, there was probably not a huge point. Him and Morales Williams in a 4x4 would've been insane though
Unfortunately this Achilles issue is still causing Will some problems. As mentioned earlier in this thread, he was managing it last year during the NCAA season, but it got worse in December and he had a series of 3 PRP injections to help settle it down. But it’s still causing him some issues and we haven’t been able to string any consistent weeks of training (at quality).
He had a great workout last week, but that was off talent and not a true indication of his fitness. His biggest week as been around 20 miles (so slightly up in last year). I’m actually surprised how good his aerobic abilities are off such little work in that area.
We are just as frustrated as everyone else who is keen to see him race, but making sure we don’t do any long term damage is first and foremost in our thinking.
PRP is trying to fix the symptoms, but won't fix the root cause of the problem that is causing excess stress on that achilles (a muscle weakness somewhere? A biomechanical issue? Shoes?).
Eccentric calf drops are probably the only long-term achilles treatment, aside from surgery, which has very high infection chances and a long recovery time. You just have to pair them with bass drum pedal exercises, as I call them, for the shin splints.

Pull the plug. Get surgery.
At this rate, he’s going to miss 2025 as well,.
Jesus he hasn't ruptured his achilles has he?!? I agree with 50% of that - pull the plug, it's doubtful Paris is happening if he is just running workouts off talent and not fitness, but I wouldn't be putting a kid under the knife at age 20 unless it was really necessary.
Bump. Anyone know if he plans on finally making his pro debut this coming season?
No clue about pro debut but he's been training every day - you can check his strava, and it looks like it's been going quite well. Heres to hoping he stays healthy.
He's finally returning at the Clemson invite tomorrow! Racing 400M. Also stated that he is no longer with Fast8 track club and is being coached by Terrence Mahon. I say he goes 46-45 ish. Hoping for a healthy season with lots of improvements.
