I mean, Usher roller-skated through a guy’s legs and kept dancing without missing a beat, on the biggest stage, live. Whatever you think of the music, that was awesome.

Can someone explain to us Europeans what the qualification criteria for the halftime show is? Why isn't it the current Champ (Billboard Leader)?
Well, after Timberlake half-disrobed Jackson like 20 years ago the rule was you had to be too old to probably take your clothes off so Rock legends tour for years but good shows.
I dont remember who was the first one...Black Eyed Peas or Katy Perry or Pink or somebody but probably 7 or 8 years ago they started getting more current pop stars.
Honestly I thought the halftime show was pretty damned good. Decent performance, interesting camera work and choreography. It was a spectacle. And what a great game!
Usher's half-time performance during this year's Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers has come under fire from thousands across ...
I think it is based on the demographics most likely to watch the Super Bowl, or network TV in general. That demographic is likely not the under 30 group. They're probably mostly watching netflix and tiktok.
Usher is still relevant to the over 30's crowd.
I don't think Usher is relevant to anybody. His music just gets played at those corporate ball events as safe "party" songs which makes him as relevant as Vanilla Ice.
It would make more sense to showcase newer artists to attract fans that don't normally watch the super bowl... we can all obviously see the results of that in real time (Swifities)
Every year they hype the half time show. Every year people get excited and watch JUST for the half time show. every year it sucks.
I've watched every Super Bowl (even the first one that wasn't officially called the Super Bowl) and I'm just so tired of the commercials and the bogus half time show.
The game is secondary to the show. That's so American.
I would love to know how many people would watch if they had regular commercials and a local college marching band with a 15 minute half time.
Truth is he did fine. Sorry you are not his target demographic. Fortunately for him, though, is there were a bunch of Taylor Swift fans watching the game (she was famous about the same time he was, so a lot of his target audience probably was watching). Only disappointed he didn’t do DJ got us falling in love with Pitbull. Love me some Pitbull.
I'm 32 and this was my favorite Superbowl performance yet. Usher is an incredibly talented vocalist, dancer, and overall entertainer. The marching band instrumentals were appropriate and enjoyable, the roller skate choreography was wild, and the female guitar shredder was amazing.
My favorite part - Usher payed tribute to his late drummer Aaron Spears, who tragically passed away recently at 47, by leaving an empty drum set on stage. Spears was known in drumming circles as one of the best and most influential drummers of the modern era, one of the fathers of gospel chops.
