It indeed was pacing.
Its one of non descendance African runners they try to mimic the parcours of Jakob as some sort of new trend.

Early physical development explain early higher performances.
Middle and long distances needs more tiny body. Its statistically proved in the last 40 years.
1.86m at 17 is not unusual. Most boys are at full height by 17 or 18.

I remember talking to a Kenyan runner who told me, " the top 7 runners at our national championships go to the senior worlds, the next 7 go to the junior worlds".

Nah he's definitely 17. Watch the 1500m race from Torun on Tuesday or the 3000m from Liévin today. He legitimately looks like a child compared to everyone.
