who cares. these people aren’t fast enough to get tested an even if they did test positive what difference would it make? the ban won’t apply to many of the races they do so it wouldn’t be difficult to hide. also selling bullsh*t to morons on social media is a massive industry, it’s not just a running/fitness thing. the best way to put a stop to it is don’t be a moron.

Rule number 1 of working out if someone is on gear: If they own a supplement company and are promoting their garbage supplements (like useless BCAA’s) and acting like this is what is helping them achieve whatever rubbish goal they’ve set - they’re on gear.
I'm glad to see this. We have a whole website and endless threads dedicated to people cutting courses to get a BQ, but we don't have anything on running influencers taking a pharmacy to run a 2:45:45. Running influencers, in some instances, make more than actual pro runners. And the doped up ones are taking bibs from recreational runners who just met qualifying times. Under the rules of Usatf, any runner can be tested if they're a member or running in a Usatf championship. They all have rules that they won't allow people who tested positive to receive support. Yet many of the big races look the other way as they give bibs to running influencers. Basically people should test all influencers. Especially Nick Bare and Matt Choi.
Are we talking real drugs or strip mall stuff that is on the banned list? I would not be surprised if many hobby jogger level influencers are on GNC purchased stuff for recovery and to maintain a trim, cut appearance.

As Sage clearly stated, it doesn’t matter if you are fast or slow, it’s a monetary issue and also a public health issue. By being a public figure, you need to give example. Imagine if millions of kids are watching you and hope to be like you, but you are cheating with performance enhancing drugs…
Once they get more than, let’s say, 100.000 subscribers, they should be in a testing pool like that of elite athletes, and they should be part of the ADAMS program, be tested at any time, but of course they should pay for their own tests themselves or give a 5% of their earning of each video to create a “Fund for Running Influencers Drug Testing”.
What people? Who should pay? Is there an official registry of influencers with a governing body?
If a sponsor is giving you a bib or the race comps you or the race makes an exception & allows you to run with a selfie stick, you should be drug tested. If a sponsor comps your travel, you should be drug tested. Ultimately this is in the long term interest of the sport. If people keep trying to hit BQs and can't because the influencers they're following don't show the steroid part, then they'll get frustrated and quit. That sells less shoes.

Yes, if you're running a race of course the race should be able to test you. But clowns on here are calling for influencers to be tested even if they don't race.

There are many types of steroids, many are not bulking steroids. Not wise to always associate steroid abuse & use with bulking.
I'm surprised that there does not seem to be much discussion of the social media influencer Aleksandr Sorokin and his extraordinary results.
I think almost everyone on this forum, except maybe Sage, agrees that ultra marathons are rather non-competitive in terms of number of participants and strength of records.
But, when wejo and rojo got a pile of money from Hoka a couple years ago to talk about Ultras they said that by far the strongest of the ultra records was the 188 miles by Yoannia Kouros in a 24 hour race. Sorokin has now beat that record by over 10 miles and run almost 200 miles in 24 hours.
If rojo described Kouros's performance as "unreal" what would they think of Sorokins performance? Has Sage written about Sorokin?

Kouros averaged 7:38.44 mile pace all day long whereas the next best man in history only averaged 8:12.58 per mile. So Kouros is 34.14 seconds per mile faster than anyone else in history over 24 hours. That’s unreal."
There's no world record easier to understand in the ultramarathon world than, "How far can you run in a day?" And there's been no human in history that has come anywhere close to Yiannis Kouros in a 24 hour period.
Kindly note that I don't know whether Sorokin is clean or not, of whether Kouros was clean or not. But, when an "unreal" record is best by a massive margin in a sport that clearly has a lot of competitors using prohibited substances it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask some questions.
This is quite silly. First, Sage has allegedly been on more meds and IV's than legally allowed. Secondly, what are they "influencing"? If they are doing legit PEDs (EPO, Testosterone), then if they win a big race they will be tested and fail. So this is no different than him calling out any professional athlete in any sport.
