Well, we don’t know what Jakob could do after some marathon training -1.45 / 2.0x… Doping? -You need more indications than just times like this! (It’s not like Bolt doing 12.45 in the 5000m….).
Disagreed. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. It's simply not possible to set a WR while clean for example, because that means beating all the freakishly talented, well trained dopers.
As for Hassan, there is more than "just times like this": range + WR + progression + likely doping list + drug cheat coach Salazar.
To assume that there are “all the freakishly talented well trained dopers” you also pretty much have to assume a high prevalence of doping among the top elite.. -A narrative I think is false. And my point is this: There’s not difficult to beat the dopers clean if they are significantly less talented (or well trained) than your self! And with low prevalence of doping this seems likely… And here are my arguments for low prevalence: The testing and that few have access to networks providing undetectable drugs or sophisticated medical manipulation.

She was a world champion before she ever met Salazar. IF you guys can get behind Kipchoge having a second half of his career resurgence after getting spanked by Farah Bekele and Lagat. Then it definitely makes sense that Hassan can utilize her track speed on the roads more effectively with these shoes. As for winning a world marathon major and setting a record, I have said on numerous other threads that it is impressive but there is never a single marathon there all of the best runners are actually there like in track. So her winning two of them in a single year as a super shoe responder in 13.xx/28:xx 5k/10k shape is not quite as crazy to me as some of you are saying it is.
This is the same woman who you could argue half heartedly almost won 2/3 distance titles on the track this past year. She won arguably the greatest 1500m final of all time in 2019 and that was a part of a double. Genetecially she is in the .001% of the elite runners. I think she is legit.

Personally, I think the only major doper among the distance superstars on the track (Kipyegon, Hassan, Chebet, Gidey, and Tsegay) is Tsegay. Hassan is the most talented of the bunch, with Kipyegon close behind. It doesn't surprise me at all what she's been capable of over the years. And if any runner looks like they'd be freakishly fast, it's her. Add to this that women's running is a bit less competitive than men's and no one should be that surprised.

If she ran those two times in the same year it'd perhaps been suspicious, but it's been 5 years since she last ran an 800m under 2 minutes and 6.5 years since that PB. Seeing her run 1500s these days you can also see that she no longer has the same overall speed of a middle distance runner. But clearly she's got unbelievable range.
In response to that thread about how many events she might run.
1:56 is good enough to medal and 2:13 is good enough to medal. The fact that some believe she's clean is ASTOUNDING. You will never see a 1:45 guy run a 2:0x marathon. Absolutely ridiculous.
3:55 in august to 2:13:44 in october. Yea right.
There are many incredible athletic accomplishments from men that woman have yet to replicate (equivalent relative to each gender). Why must a man run 1:45 and a 2:0x marathon for you to believe Sifan Hassan is clean? Can’t she just be an insane athlete?

Yes of course. She just happens to be more talented than everyone else. Naturally that is the explanation. She is clean but she destroys dopers. That is most likely what is at play here.
Don't make too much of her range. Good performances, 800m and shorter are simply evidence of good athleticism. S Hassan cannot race sub-1:57 anymore.
I'm not sure she couldn't.
Don't back off to these simpletons. Somehow their lilliputian brains want a freak talent to have run slow at shorter distances.
The doping dunces are here for amusement purposes only. They had heroes in prior generations who ran X time. They can't let go of their heroes as best ever. Therefore anyone who runs faster than X time has to be doping.
Day after day. Year after year. Laughingstock material.
The only laughing stock are those of you who never see evidence of doping in a doped sport.
The average letsrun poster is so untalented and incompetent at training the can’t comprehend elite athletes and as a result they claim everyone is doping to compensate for their mediocrity
What do you guys think jacob could run in the marathon?
Hard to say since he hasn’t trained / competed for the distance -so we have to speculate: For a starter I would like to compare Jakob with Bekele. -In the 1500m the former has a pb that is 5.2 sec better than the latter, but if Kenenisa had prioritised racing the 1500m (and with better shoes / tracks) my guesses would be a 2 sec better pb. On the other hand I would give Jakob a 3.26.5 in a peak 2023 race, so let’s estimate a 4 sec difference between the two…
Bekele is a 2.01.41 marathoner with even better potential. The big question is then: Does Jakob’s relative better 1500m capacity suggest that he has more (genetically) fast twitch physiology than Kenenisa, and therefore worse slow twitch (marathon) capacity, or is this narrative false (at least when it comes to distances 1500m and above)..?
Personally I don’t know anything about Jakob’s marathon potential -heck, I don’t even know for sure what he can do in the 5000m… But it’s exciting to speculate, and the female marathoners have done it even more so.

The average fan, on the other hand, cannot accept that the sport, like many, has been infected by doping for decades and that to be the best now will require doping to achieve it.
