i get where it's hard to catch, but obviously not impossible as they catch people every year. so what's the idea, the net's too low, quit? maybe take lance back because "everyone does it" and "we just don't catch them all?"
sorry, he played under a set of rules , violated them, and worse, intimidated and went after those who wanted to go straight and give him up. and like i was in france one of the years he won, and saw the final stage live in paris, and it used to be a great story. he soiled the story. i'm now like, what did i watch, how do i reconcile or reconfigure it?
With that short a half-life, you could dose right up to the start of a long stage and be clean by the time you got to the doping control trailer. For a marathon, get up early to dose and eat breakfast and you will be "clean" by the time you finish.

Yes, you could do that; but there would be absolutely no reason to. You’ve made it very clear that you do not understand how or why epo works. However, I think that’s likely true for most of the people that frequent the site. The problem is, people on this site make unabashed and uneducated comments on literally any subject under the sun, and then other poorly educated people take it as fact. It’s a good example to take the majority of what you read on these boards with a grain of salt. Do your homework and verify before incorporating any of these fallacies or even (sometimes intentional) lies propogated on this forum.
Yep. It is virtually undetectible if you have any competence in doping. And it is rocket fuel. The same goes for micro-dosed steroids. Houlihan was tested 180 times before getting caught on a fluke. The people that get caught are clumsy, arrogant or they are macrodosing. Here again, nothing that is too good to be true in endurance sports is real. Not hard to discern if you are looking for it with eyes open.
Norwegian athletes have reported being tested even in the middle of the night, so even micro dosing should be detectable, don’t you think..?

You reconcile by recognizing that sport is primarily entertainment for the audience, and you can’t get your money back once the show is over.
The athletes and the organizers know what they are doing, so they’ll be fine.
Ten subjects were given twice weekly intravenous injections of rhEPO for up to 12 weeks. The sensitivity of the passport to flag abnormal deviations in blood values was evaluated using dedicated Athlete Blood Passport software.
Our treatment regimen elicited a 10% increase in total haemoglobin mass equivalent to approximately two bags of reinfused blood.
The passport software did not flag any subjects as being suspicious of doping whilst they were receiving rhEPO.
You realize they post this to fool the athletes into overconfidence, i.e., Houlihan and the Kenyans with nandro.

Yes, but Wikipedia says that there were Epo in six of Armstrong’s urine samples in 2005, and steroids in 1999…

Technically, the urine samples were from 1999 and the (newspaper) report came out in 2005. A later report on the testing of those samples said the results were meaningless.
Not defending Armstrong at the moment, but noting the correction.
For much of the second phase of his career, American cyclist Lance Armstrong faced constant allegations of doping, including doping at the Tour de France and in the Lance Armstrong doping case. Armstrong vehemently denied all...

I’m not an expert here at all, but Wikipedia claims that Armstrong got off the hook only because the Epo research was so new at the time that he was freed on that technicality. And the steroid test was fixed by a back dated prescription. My point is however: Although he wasn’t suspended (Epo / steroids) it wasn’t easy (meaning there were findings in Armstrongs samples, and some desperation in his camp before he -temporarily- slipped off the hook).
Jakob Ing isnt taking epo. Sandnes isnt america. He is taking asthma drugs without having asthma.
Henrik Ing used to have a machine in the locker room that made weird noises, to inhale the asthma drugs more efficiently before the races.
Taking asthma drugs without having asthma is a violation of the doping code. So why isn’t Jakob suspended? Have you forgotten to say the same to WADA that you are saying here..?

In Houlihan’s positive test for nandrolone, I would argue that it was not utilized in a chronic pattern due to the fact that it was not detected in her hair sample. Even “microdosing” an anabolic substance would test positive there. That said, this would explain
Further, I would posit that rather than microdosing traditional (known) anabolic substances, designer substances (distinguished from substances being developed by actual pharmaceutical companies) are being utilized to evade detection across the spectrum of sports. Obviously, these do not come cheap.

This study was published while Lance was still racing
Oh absolutely, it is just that with such a short life it is likely that a good number of the minority that tested negative were also using, but just happened to be below the threshold for detection by chance.
