She obviously cannot run as a pro running 30 mpw. She has to get passed her injuries, which is going to be tough because she never really got a diagnosis on the nerve issue. But she has made progress and who knows where she will be this summer at the US trials. If she makes the Olympic team, she will definitely turn pro because Nike is going to write her a huge check. If she is broken down at the end of the collegiate season and cannot run the trials, then it is hard to imagine how she could turn pro after her senior year.
I wonder if it's this (see Cleveland Clinic web page):
Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES) is a rare condition that causes leg pain in some young athletes. Calf muscles squeeze your popliteal artery that goes through and behind your knee. This limits blood flow to your lower leg when you exercise. Surgery has a high success rate and recovery takes four to six weeks.
During exercise, repetitive compression leads to spasms of your artery. This reduces blood flow. The reduced blood flow leads to a buildup of lactic acid and carbon dioxide in your muscles and nerves, which produces heaviness, achiness, tiredness and sometimes numbness in your calf and foot.
From the interviews I’ve seen with her, she seems to speak in extremes. For example, she’s either on the verge of quitting running or she’s winning an ncaa title & signing an nil deal. Even going into this past xc nationals where she was undefeated all season, she told herself going in she had no chance in winning. Then she breaks the 5k indoor record after telling herself she’d be lucky to run 15:20s. Her pattern of self doubt might explain why she’s publicly stated she won’t turn pro. She might be telling herself she’s not good enough or durable enough to go pro but that doesn’t mean much bc she usually ends up doing the opposite of what she says.
Not to mention she's only 20-21 years old. How many of us knew with certainty what we would do career-wise at that age?
She can’t stay healthy. The world stage is much different than the NCAA.
The real question is why does she always get insured?
She probably gets insured because has has to. In my state, in order to operate a motor vehicle, carrying liability insurance is required by law. I imagine most states have similar laws.

I asked this on other threads. Do we know that she "always gets injured"? I have not seen a list. Excluding the nerve issue, maybe she had one or 2 stress fractures in close proximity and stubbled on the fact that the X training was working just fine? So played it safe. So we know she is fragile? The nerve issue is weird for a young woman, she will get that sorted out.
Best I can tell, she is getting better not plateuing.

I would say that the vast majority of college athletes who have the ability to go pro know at 20-21 whether they want to in the future (although they may be uncertain about the timing).
When you are that beautiful...there's really no need to work your butt off grinding out 100 mile weeks inducing early facial aging and missing periods each month to just get beat by Kenyans anyways.
Nor work 100 hour weeks in big law or IB etc.
She can simply be paid for her looks and marry whoever she wants (rich..handsome etc) and never work a day in her life if she so desires.
Why WOULD you go pro in something as low prestige as women's pro running if you were Parker.
Correct. Unless you have a crazy drive to compete, why would you? Also, this talk of 'if she makes the Olympic team' ... College long distance runners pretty much never make the Olympic team after a long season of competition and peaking two or three times already.

I think she should try and make the team this year training at UF, and enjoy the fun of being on the team, Paris. She has a shot.
She will move on after this. Why try and run pro when all the competitors are doped to the gills Africans? Just to get 10th in an Olympic heat?
