Imagine feeling so insecure about your own life that you’d try to tear down a person that lost their home in a tragic fire after being hospitalized for a life threatening condition.

What is the point ? I ran 2.44 as a 16 year old. Unsponsored and no super shoes. Although HOKA is not really a super shoe , more of a gimmick. Best of luck but perhaps you should listen to your body and it is fried.

Bitter ? not at all. I actually know Sage and was racing with him when he was at his best. My point is that he needs to realize that at some point you need to take care of yourself and not beat your body into the ground for the sake of running..... back off , run for fun and pursue your health. PS I have a fantastic life... you ?

It’s fun watching American marathoners. They are so heavy. Completely different genetics than Africans. Sage is huge, such limited hip extension and a heel striker. It’s just a fun hobby for the guy. No chance he can be competitive in anything global.

you say you know him and then say that you're concerned about his health... So you can post on a public forum under an anonymous alias? lol, that's as believable as you not being bitter and your life being fantastic. Your insecurity and bitterness are quite evident to most on here but keep trying to suggest otherwise lol.

His job is to coach and be a content creator. Part of the marketing for those jobs is to go run. He also keeps some small Hoka/CamelBak/Coros partnerships. Keeping eyeballs on himself is the best way to retain current cash flow streams.

If he quit trying to run at his best (and filming it), he'd lose at least half of his income. Does he have another way to make money?

I ran this race last year. It is not humid despite what other posters are saying but it is warm even with a 5am start. The wind almost always blows the same direction in Hawaii so the wind will be in your face most of the way out and at your back on the way back. You go up and around Diamond Head twice. Once at around mile 5 and once at mile 24. Not sure what kind of shape Sage is in but with the heat, elevation change, and wind, I would add ten minutes to what his marathon time would be on a flat course in ideal conditions.

The humidity there right now is 78% and suppose to be 74% at the start tomorrow morning. You think that’s not high humidity? I agree to adding at least 10 minutes, but that’s because of the humidity with the temperature, a lot harder to cool off at that humidity.

I guess I can’t argue with the numbers, but I have lived in Hawaii for a few years now and it has never felt humid to me. Probably because there is always at least a slight breeze. I also am used to Georgia where you feel the humidity as soon as you walk out the door

Hope he does well. His priority should be to maintain his health and not push his body too hard so not to do harm preventing him from leading a normal life. Running is hard on the body if done at a high level. Sometimes, you need to realize it’s okay to move on.
