    ScR - I was glad to see her get back on track. Hopefully she continues in 2024 and keeps her head on straight and out of all of the drama.

    Chase Ealey - A few hiccoughs during the season but very consistent overall. World champion. Will never catch the WR from the drug-fueled Eastern Bloc era and that's a shame.

    Yared Nuguse - Currently ranked 2nd in the world. Would have been nice to have seen a higher placing at the WC.

    Ryan Crouser - World Champ and undefeated until Pre.

    Disappointing

    Alicia Monson - Strong performances in the 5/10 early in the season but fell off sharply at the end. Still a solid year, though. Just disappointing that she fell off.

    Syd - Disappointing in that she did not compete more. I really wanted to see her win the 400 at the WC. In 2024 I see golds in the 400 & the 4x400. I would like to see her get Koch's 400 record but that is a long shot.

    Abby Steiner - As mentioned, she had a lot of promise until her achilles issue developed. Hopefully she is back on the mend. For the US 4x400 team to have a shot at the WR Steiner & Syd will both need to be healthy.

    Clayton Murphy - Showed some promise in June and then really flamed out at the end of the season to the point of not getting out of his heat at the WC.

    Blanks - Zero people were talking about him outside of IVY league threads before xc season.

    Jakob - as always. 2 European champs gold medals, World gold and silver. A couple world records. Some European records. He's the only athlete anyone thinks can seriously challenge the 15/mile world records and 3000 world record.

    Disappointing:

    Galen Rupp - his strategy of only racing 2x a ye is no longer working. It was never going to get him to the level of the top African athletes and now it isn't getting him to the level of the top Americans.

    No way was Monson’s year a disappointment.

    I don’t care that she was well beaten in the WC 5k final or that she ran a subpar race in the DL final—with the above performances, she does NOT belong in the same category as Clayton Murphy and Abby Steiner. She had a great year.

    Rupp hasn’t been healthy enough to race more than twice a year. Meanwhile, younger and healthier US marathoners still only run two a year.

    Monson is of course no comparison to our Clean Hero, who again was super duper impressive.

    Just a few more time trials would have been nice!

    Grant Fisher.

    Disappointing: injury just before USA’s/WC trials. Doesn't make the team. Was a medal hopeful. Rest, rehab, cross training.

    Amazing: Came back to place third at DL Zurich 5k, and DL final Eugene 3k setting a new North American record.
