Seems like you were there? Thoughts on the "winner" cutting the course?
I was there. Dude cut at least .25 off the course. But the lead car went the wrong way so def not his fault.
I mean if this is true then it's on the RD for improper marking of the course. A lead car is a live marker. Not sure why anyone would give this guy crap, especially if the other post is true and the guy has a track record of running at this pace multiple times before
Zach Miller was 3rd at the Millersville Turkey Trot this morning. Looking at some Strava posts I see that the “winner” cut the course but they kept him in the results? Pretty clear from the results that he cut the course. Finished a full minute ahead of 2nd.
The winner is a Penn State stud 14- min guy always wins this in low 15s. And remember there are 2 Zach Millers in PA. One is the famous trail runner, the other one a try-hard marathoner/
Didn’t say “gobble gobble MFer” as he crossed the line. Instant DQ.
More proof that ultra runners sucks. Zach Miller was second place at UTMB. And he was beaten by a couple of kids. If these two kids ran the UTMB, Zach Miller would be 4th.
Oh the irony of losing to a cheater. Zach has built his running career on being an exceptionally nice dude…and doping.
Do you have any kind of evidence or well-founded suspicion? I am in the scene (though not US) and have never heard of this (no reason to believe this either).
I've been coming to this race for over a decade and have even finished in the top 5 a few times. First of all this is a big race, typically over 1500 people. The race has been around for a LONG time (51 years) and it is an honor to call yourself a winner. The course is well marked. It's hard to make a wrong turn. The guy that won has run this race multiple times, he knows the course.
The "winner" ran 2.94 miles instead of 3.1. He missed a 300m loop around 1k into the race. It completely changed the dynamic of the race. 2nd place didn't have anyone to race against and the course cutter was barely hanging on when he finished. I wasn't running but saw it happen. I let the timing people know and assumed he would be DQd. After the race I saw some people arguing about the results. One of the top guys was saying that the winner cut the course but the Race Director wasn't going to DQ him. I guess the RD is friends with the course cutter. On top of that the guy that was arguing with the RD is no longer in the results. strange.
They announced "co winners" but the results still list the course cutter as the official winner. The high school kid that got 2nd seemed upset but was a complete class act. Didn't complain or anything. Kudos to him.
TLDR; Grown men screw high school kid out of a win.

LMAO this is gold. Some guy misses a turn at a turkey trot, complains to the race director, is still the winner. This is peak LetsRun

He’s sponsored. They take these Turkey trots really serious. Please think about what you’re saying next time before being a keyboard warrior.
Who is his sponsor? Butterball?
His sponsor is the north face. Who is your sponsor? He got screwed big time. You think these kids can run on the tour du mount Blanc? They’d shiver and piss themselves looking at those mountains.

It’s big time bs. He lives a nomadic life and does nothing else but travel and train. He’s got all the time in the world. He’s going to log over 1,000,000 ft of vert for the year. How many of you crybabies can say you’ve accomplished that?

Kind of pathetic if a guy is legit at big time races and has internet simps crying about a local Turkey Trot result. Again what prize was he screwed out of? A pumpkin pie?
North Face doesn’t care here. Try again.

So you’re saying you think you’re better than Zach. Have you even been to Chamanoix? Can you run the manitou incline as fast as Zach? I don’t think so. Go back to eating your leftover Turkey and pie.
The race director was told. Everyone knew. The “winner” would have ran a 15:58 if based off of his pace for 2.95 miles. They declared 2 “winners”. The top finisher (16:19) of the full course also received the first place prize

Seriously? Would have ran?
What do we really expect from the product of a PA D3 safety school?
