I can't help but notice the frenzy around here about Tuohy and today’s race, but let's not forget her incredible collegiate journey. Comparing her to Monson, Cranny, and Elly Henes, it's evident she had a stellar career, even finishing fifth while sick is a testament to her strength. Every athlete faces challenges, and Tuohy is no exception.Tuohy, America's sweetheart and a generational talent, is just getting started. Today might not have been her day, but that doesn't define her career. She's battled immense pressure since the age of 12 and continues to shine. Despite the tough moment in today’s race & breaking down in tears into Coach Henes' arms, it's a heartbreaking reminder of the passion and dedication she puts into every race. Let's support Tuohy as she navigates her journey, and remember, this is just the beginning for her.

None of this matters much. Both need to drop 20-30s off their 5k to make teams. Maybe both can. Maybe they can’t. If you go down the list of recent good collegians the number that were solid pros isn’t much above 50%. They pretty much all need to make one or two speeds up to be competitive.

You’re telling us that these 21 year old athletes need to IMPROVE in order to be competitive on a national scale?

Whoa. None of us ever even considered that.

Elise Cranny went from college PRs of 4:09/15:49 to 3:58/14:33 as a pro.
Karissa Schweizer went from 4:10/15:17/32:00 to 4:00/14:26/30:18 as a pro.
Alicia Monson went from 15:31/33:02 to 14:19/30:03.

We all know they need to continue improving in order to make in on a national level. Only a fool expects them to make a dent at 21 years old.

I hope they both use all their eligibility...

Let's remember the only thing that they can't do as college athletes is collect big prize money for winning races...

But I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen regardless of whether they stay in school or turn pro...

What big prize money event could they possibly win?

Anyway I just think there's this weird rush or expectancy that you move on to the next phase of your life but in reality things have changed with NIL deals...

Honestly I would think sponsors would rather they stay in school because they get a lot more press...

You can just red shirt and train wherever you want for a few semesters to try it out...

Also let's remember how many top runners really bomb at Nationals quite often...

Roe just finished in 31st place after being a runner-up a few years ago..

Dudek just finished 177... Chelengat was 14th last year after winning two years prior... Stearns was 20th...

It would be great to watch them in indoors... 5K 3K double would be exciting... I don't think Valby will be able to run away with it .... Though it would be an interesting to see her try...
