The little bit I saw tuohy very cool and collected...
I don't understand how Kelsey got hurt? I mean I guess it's always the pushing limits things but... She could have rested a lot more and just been ready for the big race...
What do you mean “I don’t understand how Kelsey got hurt?” What is puzzling to you about it? It happens.
It's very puzzling because her situation is pretty unique
I mean I can see how someone can get hurt if they're fighting to make a team or get to a certain level of excellence
But for someone who's done it for four straight years without injuries and is at the end of her college career
And presumably has no aspirations to run professionally and no real pressure to try to become like a next level athlete
It would seem like she could have gauged her effort a little better in terms of just being ready for this one race this season
I mean I guess it's nice to win ACCs, but obviously their team was going to make the finals so they didn't need her for anything this year really but to be ready for the last race
And it seems like it's a wear and tear injury so my point is like what was she striving for that she resulted in a wear and tear injury
Again she would have been a lock to be top 10 if she would have just remained healthy probably top five
So she just has to do enough to stay healthy and stay in good shape for one big race
I mean obviously things are complicated and I'm sure she was just having fun training and overdid things

WTH? What was she striving for? Probably to place as high as she could in her final collegiate XC race in hopes of helping her team 3-peat, I think. It’s baffling that you can’t understand why she wouldn’t just phone it in and stay “in good shape.” For one thing, there’s no reason to assume she was training any more “dangerously” than in previous seasons—sometimes it’s just bad luck.

Wrong... she opened late last XC season and didn't run outdoors '22 because of a foot injury.
Also, you can't predict this stuff. It sounds to me like a sprain or something similar.
Many of you are total geeks though. If the looks of these women are making this exciting for you, then you guys are desperate. Like really desperate.
You really believe we are excited for this matchup simply because of the ‘looks of these women?’
No. It is because every time these 2 competitive athletes race each other, it is an exhilarating race for any fan of the sport to watch. And with more on the line this year, it amplifies it. The heart of these young women, the sheer grit… it’s incredible!
I’m excited for the future of US distance women, regardless of who wins.

I was responding to a since deleted post which was insinuating that looks were a big part of this. So that is why I responded as I did.

Well I hope you are OK with a non American winning because there is a good chance that will happen.

Of course I’m okay with it. Regardless of who wins, it’s gonna be a great race to watch.

Has done it for straight years without injuries in the NCAA championship...
With three straight top 10 finishes without injuries..
Third last year without injuries...
Without injuries means that when the big race came she wasn't injured and was able to do good...
Again it makes no sense because it's obviously not a sprain it's a chronic overuse injury...

Looks have become a big part of college athletics since NIL became a thing. Look no further than Olivia Dunn. I don’t know why we think running should be immune from it.
