If you have followed her the past year the new head coach isn't known for making good decisions. Look at how many races he had her in at indoor nationals just so he could get his photo ops.

Anyone can find (or just make up) fault with anyone else. We don't know what the team situation was like, but it could be that numbers 7 and 8 were thankful to be able to compete more often this year. I don't know if I'd agree that moving from 12th to 6th is dumb, and I certainly wouldn't care what the first non All-American thinks. I think that's a crazy take from you.

She may not have raced much XC because she raced a lot all the way into September and needed to take a little break from racing? Though, as I say this, I am not even sure how much of a race this was.

Anyway, I am pretty sure we can count on you to find the disrespect and not give much benefit of the doubt to AW.

No she could not. Even totally fresh this would be a pretty big stretch. She is an 800/1500 runner, and there’s not much evidence she’d be even close to Valby/Tuohy who are both likely in 14:45-14:55 shape right now.

HS kids are getting NIL money, surely NAIA athletes can as well.

Wiley just won a national title. That is just as positive as the meet tomorrow. Don't comment here if you are going to be disrespectful to one of the best female American runners in history.

I'm still cautious about supporting Wiley, but her talent is legit. She had a long track season so not running her makes sense. If the team was able to qualify for nationals without her, I have no problem with her running it. XC is a team sport. If she got in as an individual with no team without racing, that's a different matter. If you don't like it, that's an issue with the system. Funny thing is, they would've finished 12th like they were ranked if she hadn't raced.

She is already running pro races including national champs, world outdoor mile and Diamond League.

She runs NAIA races as workouts and they let her skip XC season except for the championship. She is basically already a pro sponsored by her college and getting a free education while not getting burnt out like some D1s who have to run too many races.

They also setup their track schedules to get her to some meets where there will be pros and top D1s in the fast heat. For example the Drake Relays where she ran the road mile and the 1500 both won by Hiltz. This indoor season they will be at BU where the fast heat will be full of top D1 milers.

I am sure her current schedule is set up to peak at the trials in June. And that includes not running XC after running track all summer into September.

Generational talent? Absolutely. Win the NCAA title tomorrow? Absolutely not. She is not at Valby's level for 6K. She could trash the entire NCAA in the 800 or 1500 and most likely win at 3000m but beyond that it's not going to happen. Do you think Mu can beat Monson at 5000m?

First of all, that's great that she is the NAIA champion. It's a big accomplishment. She is also a fantastic 800 & 1500 runner though not yet in Mu's class. Will she ever reach Mu's class? I would like to see it happen but it's a big unknown.

That said, Wiley would be about 1:15 to 1:30 off the pace of the leaders of the NCAA XC meet tomorrow even if she were to run it fresh. For the top teams, she would not even be in the top 5. I'm not bagging on her. Just being realistic. XC & distances over 3000 on the track are not Wiley's bailiwick.

Why is she not in Mu's class at 1500?

Ok. I looked it up on the NAIA site. Looks like all NAIA kids are grouped together and managed collectively by Opendorse in a 2022 agreement. But open Opendorse and it’s full of D1 kids. For $10 you can get a (student-athlete) to text “Happy Birthday” to your 8yo child.

That's ridiculous, she finished less than a second behind. It also means McClean and Johnson aren't in her class either. By your logic Mu is not in Hiltz class. Plus you don't get credit for times you didn't run. Addy has 4 run seconds faster. And I'll also throw in she ran a collegiate schedule plus a couple of pro races.
