Evan’s lead was less than 2 seconds. Not sure why you would lie about this. Plus you are assuming a clearly tiring (he fell) Jager would finish as fast as Birech. No matter how you slice it, Jager was not running 7:56 without the fall.
Anyone with functioning eyes can see that Evan jumped that final barrier at 7:47.1 and Birech was 7:48.9 at the same point. Fine, 1.8 seconds. 7:58.8 - 1.8 = 7:57 flat. Clearing that final barrier and perhaps glancing at the clock would've given Evan a huge burst of adrenaline to finish strong. So yeah, 7:56 mid-high. But keep hoping no one watches the replay so you have a chance of being right.
So you admitted you lied earlier. That is a start. You are incorrect saying a runner so tired he couldn’t stay on his feet is suddenly going to develop a burst. No way Jager was going to run 7:56. Plus you lied again. Birech ran 7:58.83. Why do you insist on lying?

Lol. Evan had sub-7:57. Deal with it. He was 1.8 seconds ahead of Birech and pulling away.

Yeah that is why Jager fell. Because he had so much left. What planet do you and your fellow idiots live on?
That awkward, stumbling, sprawling fall that brought him to a dead stop only cost him 2.5-3 seconds. Riiiiiight. Evan went from 15 meters in front of Birech to 15 meters behind him. 30 meters at that pace takes considerably more than 3 seconds. 3.5-4 seconds minimum.

As others have noted, the fact that he hit the final barrier and fell belies the idea that he would've had a higher gear than Birech. In all likelihood, he would've came through in 7:57 struggling through the final 30 meters. Not exactly uncommon in a steeple.
No he did not have 7:56. He fell for a reason. How do folks like you not understand this?
This is why it is difficult to interact on this site. There are so many low IQs. So the winner of the race ran 7:58.83 and he had a nice finish whereas Jager was clearly tiring. Jager, if he hadn’t fallen, would have likely won the race, in maybe 7:57.5 or so. So you say he would have run 7:56 and your fellow morons all upvote you. Meanwhile the intelligent wonder what world you idiots live in.
Calm down there cowboy. You may have a point re: some posters, but the crux of the matter is he was on his way to sub 8 but a fatigue-related (and I think a mental lapse) tumble cost him the opportunity. It's a moot point, and likely would have been sub 8. That's the crux of it. Sub 8.
One thing that has really changed over the past 20 years is the hate for Eugene. Granted this is LRC, where western OR is hated with passion by the LRC RWNJ brigade. However, there was a time (70s-early 2000s) where Eugene was the place to be. Now everyone hates it.
Does this not make sense to anyone else? Jager admits that it has gotten old living in Eugene and having to share Jerry. He is now training on his own in Portland and is in the process of renegotiating his contract with Nike. I would say that it sounds like he’s on his way out if weren’t for the fact that he says “I've never had thoughts of leaving. Jerry is an amazing coach and the team is so good it didn't make sense." Thoughts?
Evan Jager has plenty of time to ramp up after coming back to running in September after a misdiagnosed stress fracture. Maybe he will find it easier to stay healthy in Portland without having teammates around him to push him harder than he is ready. Justyn Knight has only just begun running again after his achilles tendon surgery, so he hasn't even had a chance to judge the efficacy of Jerry's training, instead experiencing only the positive side of having a national teammate there on the squad and likely far better facilities and trainers during recovery than he had access to before.

Thoughts? I don't care. Each athlete will make their own decision about training and coaching. Outsiders can think it is the right or wrong decision, but don't have enough detail to intelligently critique the decision.
At this point in his career Jager doesn't have much choice but to stay with BTC. No training group or coach is going to want to start coaching an athlete at the end of their career. All the athletes who left BTC are healthy and in their prime. Old/injured athletes are not exactly in demand.

Hahaha you all are such losers arguing over this event that happened so long ago. “No this happened” “You’re lying and stupid”
If you aren’t high schoolers who can’t break 4:30, what the hell are you doing with your lives. Go back to looking at drew bosley and Joe klecker’s strava’s and plotting to do separate training from what your coach says.

Kobbs, I generally like what you post, but you are being disingenuous here. Birech found another gear when he saw Jager fall and really poured it on. Jager was tired and just trying to negotiate the last hurdle. I think he finishes in about 7:58.00 without the fall, but I will give you 7:57.95.
It doesn’t matter. Jager never broke 8:00, but he “should’ve.”

I did find it kind of remarkable that Jager was basically like "I have a life in Portland, my wife works here, we have a kid, a house, etc." and Jerry was basically like "yeah that's not my concern we're in Eugene now."
If I were a 23 year old coming out of college (i.e. Hicks) I might not care, but for those established in Portland it's hard to imagine what universe Jerry is living in that he thought everyone would just happily pack up and move.
