Nalley and Genisio from Illinois both have better chances than Bandukwala (who also has a chance, don’t get me wrong) yet neither were mentioned.
Bandu is the top Illinois runner returning from las year's Nationals.
Glad to see Bandukwala qualifying, love the Illinois representation, but Nalley is and has always been a better cross country runner, he just didn’t run well enough at NXR last year to individually qualify - Nalley is just absolutely ridiculous, not really an insult to anyone to not be quite as good as him. Genisio ran a poor race today, usually he’s much better - was properly hyperbole to say he is definitively better than Bandukwala but I do believe he had a chance, considering how he ran faster than Bandukwala at state with no real competition in his class and has been pretty dominant for years now in both cross country and track.

Hardly dominant over Bandu as for Genisio you don't count what if. Bandu has a definite history of stepping up when it counts. He's a sub 50 400 runner and with his xc background that's a tough combination to beat.
Okay, is Terra Haute known for --> a lot of runners going out too fast? B/c I noticed a lot of runners today, particularly on the boys' side, went out kind of slow and worked their way to the front. DGN and Barrington runners.

There is a decent downhill into the first 1000m mark which leads to the opening km being pretty fast. Many get out too fast and then struggle later.
I watched Nalley race Bandu twice this year. First time Nalley took it out hard to burn up his legs which worked for a 40sec win over him. This race Nalley ran smart so he didn’t have a repeat of last year. Both guys are studs so no need to discredit either one but Nalley is the man in Illinois XC.
