I think the thing that was most unique about our training (I ran for SUU back in the mid-late 2010s, with Kasey for a couple years) was that there was a minimum pace we had to go for easy runs of sub 6:45. Easy runs averaged 6:20-6:45. Also some top guys got up to super high mileage- 120-130 miles. A lot of the stuff we did- threshold runs, Mile repeats, Ks, hills and stuff like that are pretty standard- the program was more oriented towards 5k/10k and Kasey was a miler. The fast paced easy run can make you feel like you don't get a true recovery run some weeks, especially when you're only in 15 minute 5k shape.
Super happy for Kasey getting this W!
