I called this weeks ago but my thread got deleted…
You called it??? No, you simply guessed he'd be next after Grant and it happened, not that big of a "call". Poster on this site are too funny and insecure for words.
That's generally what "calling it" means. According to urban dictionary the definition of this popular saying is: "To say something will happen before it happens."
In other words, if ReggiePizza69 said Cooper Teare would leave BTC and then the prediction transpired, he "called it". Hope you are able to wrap your mind around this.
I'm curious to know what people think of him training under Ben Thomas with Cole Hocker. Is that a good move? Obviously Cole's a top 3 or 4 American miler at the moment, but is there really nowhere better for Teare? I'd say OTC, but he's Nike. Training with Kessler could be interesting, but he's not Adidas either (and I would heavily bet against him doing it, even if he could). There's Mike Smith's group, but Teare seems to think a 5k/10k group is not the place for him.
Personally, I'd go to Mike Smith, but I'm not him, so I don't wanna pretend to know anything.
Discus your thoughts.
Cole is the clear no. 2 and 1 is not available. Here’s who was ahead of Hocker at Worlds:
Kerr- Can’t join Brooks under Nike deal
Jakob- Move to Norway if they even want him
Nordas - See Jakob
Kipsang - See above and change to Kenya
Nuguse -Can’t join OAC under Nike deal
Mario - See Nuguse
Hocker.
Seems like he made the right choice to me if he wants to be a 1500m runner. Hocker has two top 7 finishes on the world stage and one was on an abbreviated buildup, and the other was after an extremely long collegiate season. Thomas is a good coach, and Hocker is a good training partner.

Dumbest response on this entire thread. Did you really not understand the poster's point?
I doubt you can wrap your mind around much of anything;)
Now, I will say that I have not read a single post in this thread. I know there is a whirlwind of social media posts on this, so figured I could say it now. Cooper is going to be coached by Ben Thomas again. I’m sure that’s been referenced here, but from his mouth directly, he visited Blacksburg a few weeks ago and wanted it under wraps. I assume the announcement will be coming soon but this has been in the works for some time.
In many people’s minds Coop was the superior talent.
Really, once they got established, why would anyone think that? Can you provide proof for that assertion.
Teare is significantly older than Hocker (almost two years).
I remember when Hocker came on to the scene and Teare was saying things like , "Cole is the future", that it made me wonder if Teare really was just being nice or if he realized, "Wow this guy is way better than me."
I think it may have been the latter. After NCAA indoors in 2021, if anyone thought Teare was the superior talent, they had to be simply wrong, right?
Hocker is a) much faster and b) much more accomplished in HS xc, right? I think he's the superior talent.
At this point, Hocker is a world-class miler with potential to move to the 5k. Teare is really accomplished national class guy - more of a tweener between 1500 and 5k and national/world class.
I’m genuinely curious to what his next move will be. The logical answer is to move to Virginia to follow Ben Thomas, but what are the odds of the same situation happening with him like it did with Jerry where Thomas won’t have the time to give 100% of his focus to Teare and possibly Hocker. I don’t see him going to Mike Smiths group since he’s not a 5K/10K guy. I don’t see him going to train with OAC because of Nike. I mean Very Nice Track Club could work out because not everyone on the team is sponsored with Adidas, but I’m also not sure how Nike would react. Is there any chance he goes to Washington to train under Powell?
Both Fisher and Teare are the core of a new group with Sean Bronsan as the coach. Why do you think coach B has been seen in and around Portland and the Nike campus so much

This is looking more possible.
Brosnan has an impressive record with 1500-5k.
The walls of winter are closing in on PC Utah. Fisher might even show up for some speed development w/ Centro. 7,000’ is an option there also.
Great idea! They can learn to embellish their achievements under him, so instead of actually running good times they can just say they did without having to
Then he can show them how to use underhanded tactics to recruit new teammates
They never left BTC, the B just stands for Bogus/Brosnan now

Yeah, I’m sure the 3:32 and sub 13:00 guys are dying to find out what tricks Brosnan has to get his best athletes to 3:39 and 13:37.
I seriously hope Charlie Hunter follows Cooper and Cole to Blacksburg. Hunter has been struggling tremendously under Pete Julien. He needs to get out of there ASAP. Maybe seeing Cooper leave Bowerman will be what is takes for Hunter to go too.
Vin Lananna stop posting. It’s over, you lost, the recruiting investigation you started fell flat. Now, you’re being investigated put your energy on your legal defense.
Has Ben Thomas been involved in Gourley’s training recently or is he coached by Haas?
He finished right next to Hocker at worlds and is a VTech grad. Adding him and Hunter to that group would put them just a slight step behind OAC in terms of 1500 talent.

Lost the recruiting investigation? Who's out of a job? Not Vin.

They were just - HIGH SCHOOL - kids & it’s 13:34 the national HS record
You guys need to up your game, try criticizing Brosnan’s hair, the coffee thing or at least call the poster anonymous Brosnan. Ok?
I’m sure plenty of others will criticize Brosnan for things not related to coaching the best runners in country.
Coaching a high schooler to 13:34 is still not even in the same universe as coaching sub 13 guys. Do you have any idea the number of coaches out there that have coached multiple sub 13:20 guys and somehow Teare and Fisher are going to out there faith in a high school coach? Get real. You can’t possibly really believe that.

Coop and Cole were training together under Thomas 2 years ago and were doing quite well. In many people’s minds Coop was the superior talent. Before he originally left Thomas I would have said Bowerman was the only reasonable place for him to go besides Thomas. Now that he’s tried it and decided it’s not for him, Thomas is the only option. Smith is a 5/10 guy and Coop has made it clear he sees himself as a mile type. Nike seems to have some kind of guidelines surrounding coaches and I imagine OAC and VNTC are not in the question. Not sure what you mean by OTC. Oregon Track Club was conventionally nike, but I’m not sure what the status of it is. If Thomas and Cole are in VA now, it might be dead in the water.
