College running is hard.
You're up, you're down, you're injured, you're sick, you're back up, you're not sleeping, you're not eating right, you're drinking too much, you've got too much homework, you never recovered from track...
it's a grind. Parker Valby knows this. She's suffered injury after injury and has had to make all sorts of adjustments to her training over the years. Major respect for her to still remain one of the best to do it after all of her setbacks.
I don't think it's fair to expect a college runner to maintain and retain any sort of dominance year after year. The ones who do it are major exceptions and big ups to them. Katelyn was a high school phenom who was one of the few (if any) to ascend to the top of the NCAA ranks. That's something incredibly special.
The Tuohy-Valby rivalry has been a lot of fun. NCAA XC last year was by far one of the best NCAA finals I've seen between the two of them. Whatever happens, this dual will certainly be one to remember.
