-the fact that a US Olympic hero does not have health insurance

-the fact that people are bothered by her family asking for money to cover health expenses

I have no idea if she got the covid vaccine, but she and her family members are openly conservative. Obviously many conservatives have gotten the covid vax, but she does fit the demographic of people who were less likely to get it.

nyt headline says she has "pneumonia". Odds of it being covid pneumonia seem to be not insignificant.

Of course other things cause pneumonia as well and I have no idea if she availed herself of the covid vaccine.

Yup, this. Given her political views and where she lives, unlikely she is vaccinated for COVID, and especially unlikely she was recently boosted.

I did. Watched the insurance video. She's a mess. Drugs.

I feel badly for any human being in that position, but as others have said, respect our privacy but give us money??? What???

In addition, how much money did she give to others on gofund me pages that were in the same situation? Why doesn't her daughter show us proof of random strangers she gave money to?

Regardless, I hope she makes a full recovery.

The Go Fund Me is clearly a cash grab -- although maybe in a time of desperation or pain. $50k isn't going to cover anything (although now it's at $72k). Obamacare would have been a drop in the bucket for her, but she didn't bother.

I'll save the sympathy for those who don't have fame or assets to fall back on.

FWIW as a kid she was a champion short-sprinter--may have set a record in the 50y or something.

No one mentioned deserving or undeserving. She has assets and resources for her medical treatment that others don't, that's all.

She had a hip replacement at age 37.

What's really happening is her kids don't want all her assets used for medical bills should she die, because then they would be left with nothing.

Regardless of how you feel about universal health care, it's scummy.
