I posted another comparison yesterday. That vs Wanjiru slugging it out for big money with Kebede in 2010 Chicago, with all the honours on the line 'only' finishing in 6:34...watch the video and see if anyone is not going full tilt there.
On the other hand, with the race, the record, the money -everything - sown up well before 40km, and after averaging 3:05's /km from 30km, in a totally relaxed fashion she pulls out a 6:39.
Now, for comparison, she has no prior pedigree over anything less than marathon, no progression since an 'ok' 800m. Wanjiru on the other hand, after a known prodigious junior career, knocked out a fast road 10km, an HM WR, the hot and smoggy Beijing OG, London with a hellava split in the middle before Chicago. All races against someone or for some prize, no time trials...and he has to spill his guts to shake off Kebede in 6:34.
