Ha! Let's see..dozens of runners on the circuit... a single figure number of Americans on the circuit with a win or two among them all season, but mostly also rans (admittedly with some fast times for Americans - but nothing special compared to the competition)...so, what are the odds of the handful of Americans getting picked for random testing...you've got entire events without an American in them and with more than 10 Kenyans in the race....Then, the Kenyans win and run world record times, and you think someone is gonna be worried about testing the Americans? They're an afterthought..sorry to tell you...that's how sad the state of affairs is...who cares about the American distance runners other than the frustrated distnace guys who plague these boards waiting for hoping that Alan Webb or Ritz can become the Rocky Balboa or Larry Bird of running.

...go the the Van damme meet site..count the people who started the men's races from 800 to 10000..uncluding the DNFs..I got 88..maybe I'm off by a few..count the Americans..I got 1...Krumm..now count the Africans.

Now, think, and then tell me what the odds of catching an American distance runner doping at this meet were. An African? How about at any of the European meets this summer? You're damn right I can't name a busted American for you...they're all off surfing somewhere or watching baseball games on their sattelite dishes.

Mourhit traded in his Morrocan citzenship and does not train with the Morrocan team--he does go to Ifrane to train but does not train with them. Just because someone goes to Boulder to train does not mean they are training with Goucher

Boulami is 30 years old and suddenly running like a machine. He was good last year and probably doped then, but where was Boulami when he was 24,25 etc. Also as mentioned elsewhere Boulami has been isolating himself from the "The" Morrocan group anyway. After setting a crushing world record and completely demoralizing the Kenyan's tell me why in the world Boulami's national federation would want to nail him if he was part of a state run doping program?

El G has been around for a long time and is extremely consistent. Some time ago Malmo posted a list comparing the closing speed of El G's various races--extremely consistent.

Also have you considered that the Morrocans/Algerians might be genetically gifted a bit like the Kenyans and Ethiopians?

El G could be doped, but none of the reasons you list give any sustantiation for such a claim.

The Kenyans may be ecstatic, but when are they going to be subjected to the same kind of scrutiny? Dr. Rosa ran for his life when the cycling federation went after him and his dirty riders, he turns up coaching and "developing" the Kenyans a year later and we're supposed to believe they're all clean? Those that yell the loudest are usually guilty themselves. I would suspect the Moroccans are being targeted for myriad reasons.

As for El G's closing speed coming to question. Morceli was consistently a faster finisher, and Kenyans are not generally noted for blazing kicks. The Ethiopians and Europeans have had numbers of well known fast finishers, but Kenyans are known more for strength than for sudden gear changes over the last 100 - 300 meters. Ignoring drugs completely, I suspect that this has something to do with physiology, it's in the genes.

Talent in general? I bet the North Africans and E. Africans have higher percentages of people with the correct make-up to be world class runners. Europeans do have individuals with the talent, just not as high a percentage, that's all. Couple that with the other options available to Europeans (this also applies to Americans) and you will see more runners from Africa at the top. Drugs are exacerbating some of what we see, but they are not the only reason.

So some people say they all train together under the same coaches and others say El G,Mourhit,Boulami are not training together?

So it is believed that American distance runners are not dirty because they are not strong?There seems many reasons for that looking at the thread why America is behind or such kinda name.

So in that sense,most athletes are clean?
