You do not know this. I bet Conner Mantz could run 2:11:59 when he was in college. Many others could have. Especially in today’s shoes. Educate yourself.
You're insane!!!
If it was that easy we'd have dozens and dozens of guys do it. And those would be guys training specifically for the marathon, and they still can't do it. Just ask Ben True how difficult it is. His PR is 2:12, and was run the same year he ran 27:14.

I claimed about 1/8 of those who are in 28:30 shape or faster. Remember I am talking about in the super shoes. IF it is not 1/8, it could be 1/16. The point is it is not a nonzero number. There are probably a handful, or as I said, 3-5 NCAA guys who could do it. I would guess that 13:11 Nico Young could run 2:11:59 in the super shoes, for example.

Again. No. You are ignorant on what it takes to run 5:02 pace for 26.2 miles. Move on, you lost this argument on the first page.

I know what it takes kid. You are out of your league here.
Yes I think this (age/timing) is a huge factor. Most runners don't give up on the track and head to the roads until their track career begins to wind down.
I think Alberto Salazar ran A Marathon college eligibility remaining, he won New York in 2:09.41 I heard he was not very dedicated back then and was lackadaisical about training at the time, He was good, but the kids in NCAA probably are serious about their training and would beat that time, So I think the top 7 at a School like Oregon would at minimum beat Assefa and her time.
Almost none. We have a graduating class every year. Yet since 2021 only 20 total US runners under 2:12.
This means little. Most aren’t that interested in doing the marathon after college. It doesn’t mean they couldn’t run a sub elite time like 2:11:59.
Ah, the old I could but I don’t want to argument. There are 350 D1 schools graduating runners every year. Surely someone in that group would want to take a shot if sub 2:12 was that easy. There were 157 D1 runners under 14 last year. Your explanation is, they could but don’t want to.
go look up WA profiles for those 157 NCAA kids under 14 for the 5k, none of them ran slower than 2:12 in the marathon because none of them ran the marathon

Ha ha ha ha. Absolutely no freaking way. You're proof that knowing what you're talking about is not a requirement to post here.
There are plenty of people I could rattle off with 10,000 PRs of 28:00-28:30 who actually train to run a marathon and do not run under 2:12. If they switched the NCAA XC championships to the Monumental Marathon instead, I’ll say 10-15 people run under 2:12, obviously not all of them would be Americans.

Why do so many Japanese with 28:00 - 28:30 For 10k Run under 2:07-2:08 and USA has Much faster and much more Good 10k Runners Than Japan, But USA has so few good Marathoners that Assefa would be considered a threat to all but our best Marathoners, We should have a few High Schoolers who could beat her time, The High School kids are always faster than the best Woman in the World in most events 100 lots of Boys in High school can beat Shacarri Richardson. Shericka Jackson, Paulindo Bol, Mu, Hodgekinson, Moraa, Kipyegon etc. in those events, That is High school kids, NCAA Runners who are the top NCAA Runners should be able to beat the Top Woman (and They Have many more than the top runners,, I am sure some Men in NCAA Who could not make their Schools4 x 100 Relay who could beat Richardson, Pryce etc in the 100, It should be the same in the Marathon
imagine thinking ur a big deal and having this whole persona built around being a 'sub elite collegiate distance star' then losing to a chick.
I don't think that's as funny as you believe. Look at women T&F Olympic results. The last male 1500m gold medalist capable of beating all women track athletes excluding barriers, Peter Snell, 1964. By 1968, women 100m athletes, too fast for any male 1500m champ, and by 1984, women were racing Marathon. S Coe could not have beaten Joan Benoit.
