It used to be that people who had no talent for running just moved on to something else. Now they hang around and denigrate those who do. Pretty pathetic.
They wanna believe that without doping, a 205 Marathoner would be a 4 hour one.😂
Whereas you want to believe athletes for whom their sport is their life won't avail themselves of every means to achieve their goals, when they are also aware many of their competitors will do whatever it takes.
Agnes Ngetich appears in this excellent documentary about domestic abuse in Iten currently re-airing on Al Jazeera. Lovely smile. Comes from extreme poverty. Apparently they call her "Kiki" at the camp. She's introduced starting at around 11:40

Don't think it is super controversial for this conversation to go the way it did. She went from not being able to break 15minutes for the 5k on roads or track across 5 races in the last 2 years (all but one being won in sub 15 so not like she won tactical jog fests and had more in the bag, she just ran to her limit and wasn't fit enough), to ripping 14:25 en route to a 10km.
That's an absolutely massive jump.
When Houlihan went 4:06 to 3:54 and 15:09 to 14:23 in a two year period people became super suspicious. Imagine if Shelby went from her old PB (about where Ngetich was coming into this year) to running her 14:23 en route. Similar story with Janet Chemusto. When you see giant breakthroughs like that get banned in the 6-24month window it's pretty fair to see other crazy jumps and struggle to get excited about it.
It's funny that there is a down vote because I don't want unfounded accusations about people cheating.
The down votes might also be because you called the mods "too cowardly", or because you implied that the accusations here are "unfounded" (which is debatable, see her progress).
For those who never ran competitively will never understand that PEDs can create those biomechanics. She absolutely moves and I'm not a fan of her form, but covers ground obviously world class. That's not drugs. I remember being in US Championship races with guys I knew were clean and I knew I trained as hard as, but biomechanically were so efficient and able to convert power more effectively than I could even though I was national class.

Age 20: 15:07A, 15:02R, 31:20R Age 21: 30:30R Age 22: 29:24R
That's basically how it's gone. It is a ton of improvement. I think a lot of the Shelby suspicion was also connected to it being in her mid-20s and multiple years into being a professional.
She's got the engine but you need the kick. There're a ton of women who can run outrageous Road 10Ks or time trial track ones, but the ones who punch above their weight and medal have a kick even if they don't have necessarily the fastest times. Prime example would be the over achievement of Margaret Kipkemobi over the years.

No, I don’t care. I come from a bodybuilding background. It’s a given that everyone is on a boatload of drugs.
I laugh at how butthurt everyone gets about it in the running world. “Clean Collective.” 😂😂

IKR? They fail to acknowledge the vast majority of Kenyans serving doping bans didn't quite "make it" and many only managed middling times even with the doping.
