Hobbs Kessler has run 5 outdoor track races this year Addy Wiley has run 12 outdoor track races. Hobbs has improved this year but Addy has had a jump, something pretty much all of us have expected by now for Hobbs.
19 and 20 years need to just f####_embed0_####amp;@ing race, this is how you learn to win and how you learn to run fast.
I am seriously starting to question if Hobbs even likes racing. Hobbs just needs to not care about the result, take the pressure off and understand that the next couple years are just about learning.
Please. What a ridiculous post. Hobbs, like Wiley, kept it going 2 months after NCAAs and went to Europe even though he didn't make the team,
Hobbs has had a great year. He's run PBs at 800 1:45.80, 1k 2:20.76, 1500 3:32.61, and 3k 7:39.00. He's much closer to #1 person in the world to his main event than Wiley is.
And that race was last year. So again not much improvement. I actually think Jakob has improved more than Hobbs this year.
I really hope I am wrong because being born and raised in Michigan, I root for the kids from there. But, if you told me to put an over under on how many Olympic and outdoor WC teams he makes I would place it at 1.
Based upon the athlete’s best times in 2023, World Athletics currently ranks Wiley #8 in the 800m and #19 in the 1500m. Kessler is ranked #29 in the 1500m.
^These rankings are for all athletes, not just U20.

I would take that wager any day...1 team? and he is 20 and not yet 6 months? That's a lot of cycles, to not make teams. I would take the over.
I didn't read much of this thread but I would take Hobbs in a race of Hobbs Kessler vs. Addy Wiley. I think he's a still a bit faster- though that could change someday.

Really?? Kessler may not be lighting up the track, but he's got a bright future ahead IMO. 20yr 6mos old. Should be in the mix for a number of years. Is he Nuguse or Hocker? No, but he will push them and they will push him. He needs to improve a bit and there is time to do it. An 800m race might help and then take a shot at a fast mile. Next year should be better for HK.
