    If age gaps didn't matter, we wouldn't be talking about age-group performances.

    Yes, I'm saying the time gap is "nothing" considering the age gap. Laros could easily be half a second faster next year in the 1500m.

    8,5 months is significant at age 18, especially for endurance. That's a lot of training in almost a year. So let's see what Laros runs next year for the 1500 and 5k, wouldn't surprise me at all if he runs faster than Cheruiyot did this year.

    Now when it comes to speed Laros already dominates Cheruiyot. He's 5s faster in the 800m at the same age. When they are both at their peak in terms of endurance that speed advantage is always going to favour Laros.

    27/30 mile world record holders are northern European. including Jazy, Ryun celts.

    the other 3 are Bayi, Morcelli, and El G.

    where Bayi is legit. and infact could have run much faster without malaria, and his records are the result of no drafting, same as Ryun, and Walker had the lousiest drafting as well. so all those guys are worth 346 or better.

    while we know that Kenyans can surely run a great mile, the idea that you need African genetics to succeed at the top, is an LMAO WTF theory by now.

    north africa is tossed as epo junkies.

    …and Cheruiyot was already running 13:39 as a U18 in Nairobi, which is worth 13:08 (probably not for a Kenyan however)

    This Laros vs Reynold exercise is unnecessary if you’re just using it as an excuse to put down either one of them.

    Facts:

    -Laros is the most exciting European 1500 product since Jakob

    -Reynold is the most exciting 1500/3000 Kenyan product with the best pedigree since Ngeny/Kiprop***

    It’s exciting that both will develop in the same era which already has many strong athletes in their prime in Kerr, Wightman, Nuguse, Garcia Romo, Hoare, Wightman, Kipsang and Gourley

    The thing with the 2k is that a time like 4:48 isn’t really number 8 all time. If it was a frequently run distance it would probably be number 50th best time. It’s like 3:29 high for 1500, fantastic but not superexpealadocious

    He is 4 years younger than Hocker, not 5.. easy to look up. Come on now. What he is running doesn't make Hocker's achievements or Kessler's at 20, trivial, it makes what he is doing absurd.

    Note that Ngeny ran 2:11.96 WR and a 3:43.40 mile at the same age. But yeah, he is the most talented Kenyan since Ngeny and Kiprop, and it will be interesting to see if he can break 3:30 in his career and perhaps scrape a minor medal.
