"“From the world side, I’ve gotten a lot of support,” Lyles said. “I know actually quite a few basketball players because my massage therapist works on them. She’s actually working with the French team right now at the World [Cup] and a lot of them have the same idea as me. When they go back home, their countries aren’t celebrating them as world champions, they’re celebrating them as NBA champions.
“I’ve gotten a lot of football players as well be like, Hey man…I agree with you 100%. It’s funny because in the US, they’re against it, but when you look at the whole world, it’s like oh, wow, a lot of people agree with what I said.”"

Down grading other sports for not being true World Champions isn't helping track and field. Focus on improving track and field popularity.
You've got no idea what sells. Running barely makes money as it is. Trash talk, controversy that sells. Gotta stop being all loners.
Put Aaron Gordon vs Lyles in a 200m like suggested and you'd fill a stadium.
Even take the top sprinters from every sport. Do a pro-stars type thing and boom money.
The running community and sport in general are really uninventive. Airhead social media personalities are able to constantly figure out how to attract viewers - boxing matches, fake beef, nudity, whatever.. they have endless methods.

Thats what he's doing. There are tens of thousands who now know who Lyles is and that he just won gold.
if you are in a sport that solely require strength, speed, or endurance, you should not be allowed to talk down on any athlete in a sport that requires skill. 99% of your success is solely based on genetics and whether or not you can get away with performance enhancing drugs. being a top level nba player requires as much discipline and hard work as noah lyles has but it also requires skill which is hardly something that a sprinter requires.

This is why the only sports that you can not talk down to are golf, darts, and bowling. Everything else relies too much on strength, speed, or endurance.

You’re wrong. This is a classic case of any publicity is good publicity.
If every top NFL wide receiver and cornerback prospect had gone into sprinting, instead of football, do you really think Noah Lyles would be a world champion?
More right than wrong, you say? I'm confused... so being 100% correct is no longer considered 100% correct? Coz Lyles was 100% . What a strange world we currently inhabit.

strength/speed/endurance sports are basically track and field, swimming, cycling, and weight lifting. if people suddenly had the genetics of usain bolt, they'd be as fast as him within a few years. if people suddenly had the genetics of lebron james, there is low likelihood that they will ever be as good as him.

What a strange supposition.
But yes, Lyles would still be World Champion.
Why is it strange? Because you say so? Most guys with great sprinter speed go into football because there’s bigger money.

thought you were talking about nba players initially
but you're right, being 3-5 standard deviations above the avg man's height is one heck of a skill
