Define distance and probably specify male. His best ever finish is one spot ahead of where Nuguse and Monson finished at Worlds this year.
He's good, but still odds are he finishes his track career with fewer global medals than Moh Ahmed. Probably a good comparison tbh - Ahmed shows the level of consistency you need to have to get lucky and medal:
2016: 4th in 5k
2017: 6th and 8th 5k/10k
2019: 3rd and 6th 5k/10k
2021: 2nd and 6th 5k/10k
2022: 6th and 5th 5k/10k
2023: 7th and 6th 5k/10k
That's 11 top 8 finishes in 6 major champs over 7 years and he still "only" got two medals out of it.
Right now Fisher has 3 top 8 finishes since 2021. Like Ahmed he needs to keep showing up in that form and hope one or two years others falter.
The disadvantage Fisher has is that he is American and has to fight harder/peak earlier to ensure he makes the team while Ahmed winning Canadian nationals was a 14minute formality most of those years meaning he only needed to worry about 100% peak for worlds/Olympics. Actually, Ahmed hasn't actually raced at nationals since 2019.
