Maybe he meant Kerrr was just the next guy who beat him in a championship final... Like maybe he meant yeah man Ive been lousy in championship races and Kerr is just the next guy who got me... Meaning like it could happen again

Hard to say if he «obviously» has the better kick when Jakob keeps leading the race isnt it? Youre probably right, just we have never really seen him kicking like that except when he won the olympics
Interviewer: Would you be open to racing Kerr again? Up for some revenge or..?
Jakob: "No. H-h-he was just the next guy. So if I hadn't run in the final he would probably have won. That's how I see the race. Obviously if you're - if you stumble and fall...someone...someone is going to win the race. He was just the next guy."
Actually, in three 1500 finals now Jakob was "the next guy", after the winners. He certainly knows what it means the the next guy - the guy behind the actual winner.

In Tokyo, Jakob was "the next guy" until the last hundred when he passed Tim. Now he gets beat twice by people using the same strategy and somehow doesn't think that counts as a real victory.
