It is purely a financial decision which was spurred by the possibility of no-heighting at a USATF championships and missing the payday of the Olympics. With Sweden he gets to go every time until he doesn't want to anymore.

He is a natural born citizen - born in Louisiana to an American father. According to the 14th Amendment the US government cannot revoke the citizenship of a natural born citizen. Are you suggesting the Constitution should be amended to deal with this critical issue?

His mother is Swedish, but yes he grew up here, lives here he just wears their jersey. He barely speaks any Swedish.
I think they saw the potential for more marketing opportunities in Sweden, so that's why he's not an athlete for the USA (which seems backwards to me the USA is a huge market.)
What does it really matter what country he competes for? I find myself subconsciously rooting for Americans but when you think about it, it’s kinda weird. If a PV from Sweden is a genuinely nice guy, why should I not pull for him over an imaginary US vaulter who is a jerk.
