Track and field needs PR. The sport is in a death spiral. It's hard to sellout meets (only one day of the World Champs is sold out), especially in the US. The athletes are hardly known outside of the T&F community. The public at large don't care at all. I would bet a lot of money than 90% of people can't name the men's 100m champ from last year's World's or the Olympics.
And then fans come on here and complain if an athlete tries to stand out and promote both themselves and the sport. It's like some of you are happy wallowing in a dying sport
90% of the general population? More like 99.999%,or more. I'm the elusive "casual fan", and I have no idea who won the last Olympics or World's.
