The reason is wellknown in the Norwegian track and field community. And Jakob and His Brothers are actually doing the correct thing by taking the step away from him
Can someone say what the reason is instead of this cryptic “The reason is well known” stuff
This is really frustrating to read over and over again. It has to be something extreme. I'm sure the comments have been removed but in the original thread one of the leading theories was that something happened regarding the youngest sister, since she stepped away from the sport at the same time. Beyond that it's either that "gray area" training turned into the black area, or that something like a grudge or disagreement turned into an active sabotage attempt. There are only so many movie tropes I can draw from here.
There is a lot of rumors in the Norwegian Track and Field community. And it may be right of the sons to do it. But this is a decision made by the Federation. And they give no reason for the decision. They act like a judge who is giving Gjert no chance of contradiction. A well known Norwegian sports journalist with good connections in the Federation writes "it is to protect the superstar". He and his brothers get stressed when the Father is nearby. And Narve Gilje Nordås, who is trained by Gjert gets sacrifised. So one might discuss whether or not this means a lot for Narve Gilje Nordås, but at least he thinks so. We will see at the 1500s in Budapest.
Whatever the reason, we know from the show that Gjert had been way too domineering over the years and that as they got old they were getting sick of it, so a break was inevitable. (The sister was never fully into the sport herself and angry about not getting as much coaching attention as well, so it was inevitable that she would quit as well--it had already happened with two of his other sons). He would have been more effective had he backed off a bit and let them take on more responsibility over time, as I am sure he has done with Nordas.

Sorry but i didn't get what you mean with this 😱 Ingrid? Black and grey area? Sabotage attempt? Can you be more explicit please? I'm very curious about this story.
Well if you type in "Gjert Ingeb....." in Google one of the first suggestions that comes up in Norwegian is "Gjert Ingebrigtsen hit Ingrid". So maybe these rumours are of a domestic kind.
As someone involved in coaching and to an extent, NGB politics. I would always lean heavily towards accreditation to field eventers and technical events. Norway also has a long history of field event athletes also.
The reason I would lean towards field events is because those events are where on site coaching has the greatest impact on performance as technical feedback can be given immediately to thr athlete between attempts. The 1500 on the other hand is basically entirely in the athletes hands during the race. So given the same circumstances and choice, if I had to sacrifice a coach, it would be Gjeert too. Its really the most logical decision.
Maybe there is a conspiracy, who knows but even if not, if I was in the same position, I'd make the same decision.
I agree completely with the bolded part.
However, in Norway's case technical advice from a field event coach may result in their athlete advancing from a 9th place to a 6th place. A 0.1% impact from Gjert may help Nordås to a bronze medal if all stars align, and medals are hard to come by in Norway. That's why, in my opinion, if Nordås wants Gjert to be there then he should be there.
On the other hand I also think that Nordås will be just fine without Gjert, but it's about the principle and the bad precedent this establishes. And it's almost guaranteed that some other 400/800/1500/5000 runner who isn't Jakob or Nordås gets to bring their coach, and if that turns out to be the case I hope reporters find the courage to raise the question.
At the very least the federation should be more transparent and offer a real explanation.
Given the lack of transparency, we unfortunately have to speculate:
Gjert sitting outside the stadium in Oslo, while his athlete and his three sons were competing
1-Jakob would have enough pull at Oslo meet to have organizers to not provide Gjert with a ticket. Gjert found out last second that he would not have a ticket and event was sold out, so he could not get in
2-Option 2 would be a restraining order against Ingrid. She was in stadium at Oslo.
Ingrid may be in Budapest, so Norwegian federation did not want to waste a spot for Gjert. in addition, Jakob may have asked the Fed not to give him a spot to avoid any potential issue which would upset him
Clearly, the family issue is not great. Did Gjert say one word about Jakob’s world record?
ridiculous. He has every right to be there. Also the random speculations above are ridiculous as well. Never heard anything about such a claim. Honestly should be removed by moderators unless proven otherwise. I wish we had answers, I am sad the boys and dad relationship has problems. Hope they can move on.
Welcome to letsrun, where fiction is passed off as truth/reality.
The video series has created a warped perspective of the Ingebrigtsen family (just as ALL reality shows are warped and usually scripted). Sadly, it comes down as "it was a good idea at the time", but has created the impression that Gjert is a monster. I don't really believe that, and that what Nordas has done also says that Gjert is a very good coach, anything else is just innuendo (the favorite MO of the LR denizens).
Well, I think we agree that this is a hard decision to make by The Norwegian Athletics Federation. Either way it will not be optimal
1: Put Gjert in, and Narve will be satisfied, but Jakob will get stressed/unfocused/mad
2: Keep Gjert outside, and Narve will be OK still having Gjert between the rounds, and Jakob stays focused.
Both Gjert and Jakob know what caused the break up. Probably Narve and the Norwegian federation as well. Obviously the cause of the break up is to personal to break public. If so, we have to respect the decision.

Please let the rest of us know, or at least me. Is there some doping allegations towards Gjert?

I agree with this. Do we even know if Gjert even wants to be there - if that means Jakob can get unfocused?
